You need a better pump than that to run through that loop. With 4 outlets and roughly 450 gph that will be a trickle of water out of it, 125 gph per outlet isn't very much for movement. You need at least 900 gph or more...preferably more. Ocean Runner makes some very good low wattage high gph pumps if the Eheim is out of the budget. Some people prefer the Ocean Runners to Eheim.
Chad, it looked like a single 1 to 1-1/2" drain and the return is fed into a pvc loop with I believe 4 outlets. With head loss and restriction a 900 gph pump should be fine. it isn't a closed loop, it is an open loop and the outlets are restricted.
a couple dollars in pvc fittings...but keep in mind Mag's are heat generators and a 9 will heat the water more than a 7 which is why I don't recommend Mags...esp. in small tanks. The sump being a 10 gallon is another thing to think about...a large pump in a small sump keeps microbubbles from dissipating.
yes...used for a comparison only...twice the watts for the same flow. Skip the mag if you can, if you cannot then watch your water temps. You may need to run a fan on the tank to keep air circulating and use evaporative cooling.
I have a small desk fan, and my main tank lights have fans built in......I wanna try the mag at first...if It fails I will admit you were right .... so you wanna trade? lol ?? my off brand power head, and 30 bucks? for your mag 7??
mags sure do heat but they are cheap. The reason I told you to buy a mag 7 is because you always say you are broke. Any of those other pumps will cost more money but will also save you dad money in electricity. Whatever you decide to buy just let me know what it is and I will help you make the changes, if needed.
If it were my tank I would hoock up a mag 12 or something that can push at least 900 to 1200 galons to make the fish and coral go crazy. Just my opinion....
alright, what are you doing tomorrow BK? can you help me pick out the fightings......I will be up at gateway for a while, we can change it to a mag 9.....? I hope you can atleast tell me what I need to buy... thanks
