Personally, for a 10g reef, I'd go with...

(20) Dwarf Cerith Snails
(5) Nassarius Snails
(5) Astrea Snails
(3) Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs

Fire shrimp will help a bit with cleaning up excess waste, but in most cases they're pretty shy animals. I have mine with a zebra moray who he never leaves the side of, so this helps his "sociability" in my situation. Well worth it though, a beautiful species
