Is that a maxima clam in the first pic? If so does it have a name like polka dot blueberry or something like that? Looks cool. I want one.

Its a T. squamosa clam from ORA

Skimmer is doing great. Now that i actually have some bioload in the tank its starting to pull some nasty stuff. Still not enough corals in the tank for a fts. Hopefully soon

Ack! Get the clams on the rocks! Very few clams, especially small ones are at home on the sand, but everyone puts them there. At the very least, move the maxima and crocea!!

another fts please Q, havent been down the store for a while cos im still waiting for the tank from AGE and I hate the temptation... jan im told :)

Looking good, nice scape! T. squamosa is fine on the sand bed. I would move the maxima and crocea onto the rock work or at least give them their own rock to attach themselves if you want them down low on the sand bed.

Clams can be in the sand if they have something hard to attach there foot to, and dereasa clams live in the sand.

Check your sources. Point in fact, juvenile derasa, do not ever go in the sand in the wild. Only when they get quite large will they do so. Realistically, any clam that secrets byssal threads has evolved to live on the rocky reef structure.

Any clam will be "fine" in the sand, but most would be more at home on the rock, squamosa included. People always assume they should go in the sand, but it is an unnatural home for them. Furthermore, clamms do not photosaturate, so they can recieve more light than you could supply, and the more light they get, the better they do. So higher = better.
