The only thing that is lacking is the cpr bakpak which will be going on soon. I think that I will be adding a 1/10hp chiller too.

I just xenia and my fire and ice zoas. This is my daughters setup and she wants me to add the purple claustrea. I am not sure if it will be ok though.

The horses seem to be getting more acclimated to the light. The first day they hid while the 10k bulb was on. Yesterday they were out feeding during the peak lighting.

I am thinking about adding a pair of ocellaris clowns but I am not sure that a tank full of macro would be the best thing for them.

Does anyone else have a suggestion for another tankmate?

Scott

Ok what am I doing wrong???? Everybody elses tank gets comments. I built this tank soley on what I learned from this forum and seahorse.org , What are my horses ugly or something?

Scott

I like the tank, Scott. So don't worry :) Personally, I don't keep any tankmates with my seahorses. Mine are all dedicated/species only tanks. Others fare well keeping fish tankmates. Myself, I wanted seahorses....if I wanted fish I'd look at my other tanks.

Tom

p.s. if you do add other fish...pass on the clowns for sure.

Tank looks pretty cool. I don't have seahorses... but I do have clowns ;). I'd say pass on the clowns if you want to keep seahorses.... the clowns will either stress them out or at least make it hard for them to eat.

Sorry you aren't getting many comments, the seahorses look awesome!

What did you change about the lights? Like are they all actinic now?

Tank looks nice. Horses love macro ... soft hitch and pod refuge .. a horses heaven.

Why does everyone want to put clowns with their horses? Clowns are pretty, cute, soft, happy little DAMSELS! that can be mean as mean gets.

Like Tom, I prefer species only tanks, but some docile fish can make nice tankmates. Consider cardinals or firefish ... they hang out in the water column so you see them. Just make sure they don't eat all the food before the horses get some.

Well the motivation for the clowns is because this is my daughters tank and she likes clowns. Probably going to do with out.

The light went from a NO flourescent fixture to a Current Orbit 130w PC hood..with moon lights.

As for the horses I am pretty sure their H.kellogis but I am not positive.

Thanks
Scott

Nice tank. I'm gathering ideas for a new 24G aquapod that I just won in a raffle...

How about a couple of interesting looking pipefish?

i too would pass on the clowns... even the most passive of fish will be to much for the horses IMO. at lest from what i have experienced. I had a firefish in mine that never bothered anyone, and the seahorses wouldnt eat because they were scared i believe; as soon as i took it out they were eating again......good luck with it though, i would get a pipefish also, although, i dont want it getting sucked into my filter :)

EDIT: yep they definately look like h. kelloggi to me, i have a few of them and they look the same

Hi!
your tank is very nice:thumbsup:
and i also thing that a neon goby would be perfect with your sh.

scooter blenny would probably be fine, in all honesty, i think my horses dont like things that swim a lot..it might just be mine though.. you could probably get away with a scooter blenny since it really isnt a swimmer, good luck with it though

tank and horses look great!

For the clowns - why not buy an Eclipse or a knock off tanks at Wal-Mart - their regular lighting would be fine for clownfish (w/o the anenome) - nice cheap set up for a hardy fish

I have kept clowns and bubble anemonies in eclipse tanks before... The bulb anemonies were fine in the low light level.

OO and I woudl recomend pearly jawfish as tankmates for SH's as well they are really fun to watch, but dont bother the horses at all since they rarely venture far from their burrow.

Looks like the tank is coming along nicely Scott.

If you are still looking for recomendations on fish, how about P. fridmani. Its a beautiful fish, active without being aggressive, and has been successfully kept with seahorses by other people. Its one of my favourite fish.

I thought about that but I don't think that my substrate is deep enough.

Scott

You dont need a super DSB for a jawfish. What I do Is I have all of my substrate in a slope comming down from the back of the tank. It barely covers the bottem in the front, but is about 5 and a half inches deap in the back.
