The Standard 'Which Ones' Question

I know you guys get tired of this over and over but here it is again ;).

I have a 6 foot 150 gallon tank (72X18X28 I believe). At the risk of sounding even more cliche, which Tunze powerheads would or could I get by with if cost was a factor, along with how many.

I do have a sump under the main tank with a pump returning flow at approx 600 gph.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

What do you want to keep in the system?

I have a 125 gallon sps system that has two 6100's on it. I also have a 180 mixed lps soft coral system that I use a 6080 on. It also has a built in spray bar with a mag 9.5. I am also using a 7400/2 on a 125 gallon aquarium lps/polyp system.

gooch

Good question Gooch. This will be primarily a softies tank with a few SPS corals in it.

Any chance you can PM me with a link to some pics of your spraybar? I have a hold drilled in the bottom of my tank where the pump returns water from the sump and I was also considering a spraybar of some type.

I was thinking two 6060's for a tank like this, each in opposite corners of the tank.

Thanks for your reply!

:)

I'd get the T24 package. You can always reduce the flow and should you decide you need more flow in future it's only a knob away...

My opinion is the Electronic pumps are well worth the money. For softies I would lean toward the 6000's with a multicontroller. The extra features of flow control and alarm to notify of pump stopping really come in handy. The 6060's would alsowork but just know that you cannot use them on a wavemaker the shortest possible switching time is 1hr intervals.
