The story of the MAMA RED PLATE CORAL!

Yes, it will be a long time before any babies even start popping off but more will follow. I had a little chunk of rock attached to a different coral that popped out baby plates pretty fast, maybe because there was only one? I don't know but the original got bumped off on accident and a new one started immediately growing, that one same thing happened except too soon I think and it didn't grow another so they can be damaged into stopping. Do yours puff up more than that or stay pretty small? Mine the babies got pretty large during the day, overlapping each other. The skeletons were very small at this point, not much bigger than yours.

100 babies at $500 each, your in da money now. Congrats to you. There is a local reefer that this same thing has happened to. The coral looks dead dead dead, and it is putting out babies, not a 100 at one time, more like one at a time.

Glad to see these are growing for ya! Id let them grow on the mama cause the fungia tree i have the skeletons will grow around eachother. This will make them have a wavie skeleton!I asked to be on the list on the OG thread on r2r do ya even have a real list? Im sure you have been bugged over and over!!

Looks like you have a small gold mine there, must be fifty of them! Pretty cool!

Mine did the same thing. My kids actually took a dead plate when we were picking out our live rock. Fast forward two years and we now have four babies!

They have been growing all on top of each other for a while and the other day one let go from the dead plate skeleton and I have been fighting to keep it from blowing around the tank.

Thats a great recover story, I have had the same thing happen with euphyllia and blastos.

never a plate though, congrats.

Ive had a pearl bubble coral do this to,except that it wasnt single babies,it just came back to a full colony.Awesome red plates btw.

HAHA!

The thing about my plate was it was perfectly fine and in a tank full of acan lords, palys, sps and they were all great! But for some unknown reason it just started dying.
