Hi Grim,
can you help me with t5 combination for my new tank. 1500mm x 600mm x 600mm? I have a Giesemann matrix 12 x 80w. I am keen to keep sps and hope to hold the color for my sps? I am using Giesemann T5 80w. I have choices of , Lagoon blue, Aquablue plus, aquapink, Actinic plus and Pure actinic. Can you advice me for the tube colouration and arrangement? Yours advices is very much appreciated. Cheers.

Use another Blue plus instead of a 6500K daylight.

If you want a little more blue than you can switch out the ge6500 for a coral plus..
Edit- I didn't notice you already seen the pics, oh well these are newer anyway...

I am going t pick up from vivid but they don't carry coral plus, which do u think would be the same? Maybe pro color ...

well I ordered this combo:
4 B+
2 KZ purple
1 Kz coral
1 AB spec.

I hope it looks good! Ill try and post a pic

Should look fine, good place to start at least.

i currently run a uvl aquasun instead of the coral plus(in the arrangement listed)...ive wanted to try the coral plus bulb. should i have switched out a blue plus or purple plus instead of the aquasun?

Hi Grim

My spec is 72x24x24 SPS Tank, ATI Sunpower 8x80w T5 Fixture.
2x Fiji purple
3x Superblue
2x Actinic
1x Coral light 10K
2 lamps in one plug, 6 lamps in other.
All SPS location at the middle or lower in the tank.

Stage 1: Fixture 3" above a tank. 2x Actintic 6 hours, 8 bulbs on 4 hours.
All SPS Never grow in half year. Color and poly didn't very well. So I slowly increased
photo period longer to stage 2.

Stage 2: Fixture 3" above a tank. 2x Actintic 10 hours, 8 bulbs on 9 hours.
It can see a tips come white and growth. But 2 SPS frags and brain bleach to died, another SPS colony bleach 80% now. Whatever a frogspawn color fade out too.

Now, I raised the fixture up to 10" above a tank. 1x Actinic and 1x Superblue
running 8 hours and 8 lamps on 4 hours.

My questions are:
1. Is photo period too short in stage 1
2. Does the fixture too close. Lighting is too intense in stage 2.
3. How high should a fixture above a SPS tank. (8x80w)
4. How many bulb for Dusk & Dawn. 2 or 6?
5. What's combination for 2 & 6.

Yours advices is very much appreciated.

actinic bulbs are useless and dont give much for par.

i run my 8 bulb for 10-hrs 2 ATI blue+, 8 hrs all bulbs. its hung 3" above edge of tank.

what is youre interpretation of a slow acclimation to an increased photo period ?

I am looking at replacing the lamps on a 4 lamp fixture i am using on an SPS dominated tank. What ATI lamp combo would you recommend for growth and color pop? If it helps in determinig which color combo the tank is deep, probably 24" with lots of rocks. Thanks in advance

A slow acclimation was one hour more in five day, and another one hour more in next five day. We both have 3" distance from top, is it any different between yours 192w and mine is 640w total.

No do not get the pro color!!!!! That bulb, uh, hmmm...ya.maybe in a 10 bulb combo but not a 4 bulb.

You can order bulbs from reef geek , premium Aquatics or bulk reef supply.
I forgot to mention the way your fixture lights up I would put the lights like this:back2front
Blue plus
Coral plus/aqua blue special or whatever
Fiji purple
Blue plus

What's the dif between the ge6500 ecolux and ge6500 starcoat? I see my ecolux bulbs i git from reefgeek say made in china and the pic at vivid has the star coat made in Hungary.

Swap the coral plus for a GE if you think it's too blue.

Grim, i recieved the Sunpower and want to say thanks for the advice. I haved placed to bulbs in the order suggested but i think it is a little in the white side like a 12k.

Front to Back:

Should i replace the Coral Plus for another Blue Plus to get a 16 to 20K or should i reorder the bulbs?

I'd like more corals to stand out, SPS, LPS< softies etc as my last one didn't at all.
I do like the actinics look but dont want to ove due ot either. In Michigans pick in the page before, the 2nd pick looks better htan teh first but anyway to get it a little bluer in the 2nd pick but not as blue as the 1st? Maybe and aquablue isntead of the 6500 GE?

2nd one down for a blue look and 3rd for more white 14K look

With the fixture up 10 inches run the dusk/dawn 10 to 12 hours a day and the rest 6 hours
