The T5 Q&a Thread - split

I seew no need for the Purple T5 lamp. Run 2 Blue Plus.

I got all the LED's written down.
On each module of LEDs theres 42 3W LEDs and 2 10W.
Colors are as follows.
4 Warm Whites at 900ma
1 Red at 900ma(on the same string as the warm whites)
13 Natural Whites at 900ma
22 Blues at 900ma
2 Greens at 900ma
and the two 10w Royal Blues(445nm) at 1A.
Modules are 6.5" above the water with no optics
So you think the purple won't help the colors any? Ive got decent red in the tank I suppose, but I have seen better pop in clownfish from T5 tanks, so I was looking to achieve the same thing.

Hey Grim I have a question for you. I just ordered a 60" ATI sunpower 8x80 watt fixture and am new to t5 lights. I havent ordered bulbs yet because Im not sure what I should get. What color bulbs would you recommend for my fixture. I would like to stay with ATI bulbs though and Im wondering what bulbs I should get and what order I should have them in. I am hoping to get into sps with this new light also. Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

Hello, I am running an aquatic life 6 bulb, and looking to replace all the bulbs. I would like a fairly blue look that will make all the colors pop. Probably looking at Geismann or sifiligoi bulbs. Thanks in advance!

4 Actinic Plus, 1 Aquapink I think is the Guesemann name for their purple lamp and 1 Aquablue.

All a Purple lamp is is a blue and red lamp. You already have warm white LED's plus the Red. I only use warm whites with some neutrals and have plenty of red.

I have an 8 bulb ATI with Reefbrite LED strips connected to each side. I am wanting to get my dusk/dawn quite a bit more blue when the LEDS and my 2 Blue plus bulbs are on. I also feel as though Im missing my reds and greens during this time. I think I have enough light to sacrifice a bit of par so Im wondering what one or 2 Super Actinic bulbs would do for me (or any other bulb for that matter)

Thanks

I'm putting up my ATI Sunpower 4x54 over my 40 breeder. Looking for height recommendations for LPS dominant tank. Thank you.

First you'll want 6 lamps over the 75. Also don't use a splash shield with the Tek.

Be a nice 15K blue and enough PAR for about anything you want to raise properly placed in the tank

Grim,

As usual you are correct. I was thinking about the 6 bulb version but I was not sure. Once again, thanks for the help.

The only fixture I've seen from them was the 6x54 mini which is an abortion.

Hopefully the more expensive units were better designed and work well.

Hmm. Thanks Grim.. Do you know what ballasts they use for the T5s? The reason I went with them is because there the only fixture I found that combined the t5s with the leds in this big of fixture. Do you have or anyone else have any other recommendations? Thanks again.

Thanks for the info! What would be the best order to arrange these in? Also, with the bluer light, would there be any isses keeping clams or other higher light corals? Appreciate the help!

I've gotten my numbers all mixed up my light is a 4x39 36" ATI Sunpower.

That is basicly what I was running on several 40 breeders. However I converted one to LED's and an considering converting more.

The lights I found worked best on there was
front
ATI Blue Plus dawn to dusk
ATI Aqua Blue Special midday
ATI Blue Plus dawn to dusk
ATI Purple Plus midday
rear

For height I was about 4" above the water surface. And the lights were located slightly forward of center.

If you want to combine T-5's and LED's my strongest recomendation would be Do It Your Self LED's with a top quality T-5 Fixture using eaither 2 or 4 T-5 bulbs. Running the T-5's as primarly ATI Blue Plus Bulbs and letting the LED's cover the fuller spectrum and a boast to the Blues, with a 50/25/25 ratio of Whites, Blue, and Royal Blue LED's.

questions:

would you use the new coral plus to replace the aquablue?

or keep the aquablue and replace the purple plus with the coral plus?

how much PAR would I lose if I replaced the blue plus in 2nd slot with true actinic?

any other combo you would use?

Thanks

Don't know what they use on the big fixtures.

Purple Plus a little front of center and the Aquablue a little rear of center.
