The T5 Q&a Thread - split

Are there any suggestions on how I could tweak the 8 bulb combo to be even better? I'm looking for that pure white with a blue tint look.

Blue+ KZ NG KZ SB Purple+ ABS Blue+ KZ NG Blue+

Current setup does look slightly purple to me and does not seem to have a hint of blue.

I do also run a single strip of Tech Reefbrite blue.

I am going to try 3 blue + 1 coral + and 2 aquablue special this time..i think it will give a bit whiter look but we will see.

Depends what you like

Option 1 will be the most blue
Option 2 will have a slight purple look to it
Option 3 will be the whitest and will dull colors slightly IME. I don't like the ABS bulb and avoid it if I can

Something along those lines

I am trying to tweak my combo a bit. Acro colors aren't where I want them yet. I have tried over the course 6 several months 2 different combos that just don't work for me I had
Front
Blue
Coral
Blue
Aqua blue special

I also tried one with coral plus where abs was. I have also tried a ge6500k with 2 purple plus where coral plus bulbs. I just don't like ge bulb too yellow.
I am gonna try a Fiji purple in 4th slot to see how it goes. What do you think? Or should I do 2 purple and 1 coral. It seems like my pinks and purples a lacking the most. Thanks. Jeremy.

I was using the following combo (front-back) P+, B+-, B+, B+, C+ and B+. Red, Pink and Greens were ok but my browns were pale.

Tried B+, B+, C+, B+, C+ and B+. Colors were better but the browns still were paled. Also tried the Aquablue in front and it everything seemd washed.

Finally tried P+, B+, C+, B+, C+, B+ and all the colors pop better and also the brown were more noticable.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Please critique my planned bulb configuration:
ATI 10bulb:
All ATI bulbs:

(front)
Blue+
Actinic

(back)

will blue+ and actinic cover all spectrums? I've heard of a few vendors that only use blue and actinic bulbs/led to get best coloration. Corals come in with great colors then fade because of too much white light in our tank.

I think you'll be extremely disappointed with that. It will look good to begin with and then all reflective coloration will disappear and corals will fade out. Fish will look terrible under only blue light.

None of the great tanks utilize a combo like this in any form. You'll be missing any spectrum above roughly 500nm.

I'd start with 6 blue plus and 4 coral plus. Then go from there

Looking for lighting ideas for a 210 mixed reef tank. How many 80 watt bulbs is ideal? I'm thinking of going with a ATI fixture since they are on sale. Thanks in advance.
