The T5 Q&a Thread - split

I was running blue+ and purple+ and coral+ when I first started this new system. Corals looked pale then. About a three weeks ago I took out the purple+ and 2 blue+ and replaced them with atinic. Corals have regained their colors and growth has increased. Coralline has increased.

How can I light a 36" wide tank with T5's? I wish the ATI fixtures had 10 and 12 bulb fixtures. Is the 8bulb enough?

@mhucasy
Will you be trying the E5 Euroquatics bulb?
I'm getting a 6 bulb ATI Sunpower and supplementing with blue Reefbrite XHO.
I'm thinking maybe I should run the following bulbs:
E5 Euroquatics
Giesemann Super Actinic
Aquablue Azure
KZ Fiji Purple
Giesemann Actinic Blue
Aquablue Azure

What's your thoughts?

It's interesting that you say this. I was thinking something similar.

I currently have the following 4 bulbs and will be ordering 4 more to finish out my 8-bulb setup:

1 6500k
1 Purple+
2 Blue+

I was going to buy

2 Coral+
2 Blue+

But now I'm thinking I'll go with

2 Coral+
2 Actinic

I'm thinking this will give me a bit of everything and should be a good starting point. I can easily adjust from there if I think I need more/less of something.

I used to run 5 blue plus 2 purple plus 1 ge6500k. I really liked the look and had good results with it. Only reason I don't run that anymore is I switched to halide t5 combo fixture.

I just got a couple of the fauna marin royal blue tubes and they don't have any writing in them to denote the end which should be over the cooling holes. I assume it doesn't matter?

Any ideas?

Thoughts on this combo?

(Back to front)

ATI BLUE +
ATI ACTINIC
KZ FIJI PURPLE
ATI BLUE +
ATI CORAL +
ATI BLUE +

I have a Aqua Blue Special in place of the ATI Actinic right now. I think the ABS makes the tank a bit too white for me.

Will this provide enough for both growth and color?

What a great thread. I'm hoping for some direction with a used fixture I'm buying that has some relatively new bulbs.

Getting a 48" 6 bulb ATI sun power dimmable which includes the following bulbs:
2x Gieseman actinic blue
2x Gieseman aqua blue coral
1x Gieseman super actinic
1x Gieseman super purple

I already have in my closet:
1x ATI blue plus
1x ATI coral plus

My initial thoughts are two replace the actinic with a blue plus and call it good. I will also be using a 48" DIY rapid LED Royal blue/blue LED strip.

I'm am running a full SPS tank and switching from 250 watt radiums/super actinic VHO/diy led strip. I'm having good growth currently, but want to switch to T5 because of shading issues I'm having with a primarily halide system.

Didn't hear anything in regards to my previous post, but here's what I am running:

FRONT
ATI Coral Plus
ATI Blue Plus
Giesemann Super Purple
Giesemann Aquablue Azure
Giesemann Actinic Blue
Giesemann Actinic Blue
BACK

Also have a pretty powerful DIY Actinic LED in front of the fixture.

Hey everyone, ready to make a change after the corals seem to be fading in color. I've got a Dimmable ATI 8-bulb:

3 Blue +
2 Actinic
1 Purple +
1 Coral +
1 AB Special

I have many other new ATI bulbs in the closet, what would you experts suggest?

Here's my light schedule:

What size fixture for a 68g half cylinder? The back wall is 40" and depth from center of back wall to center of curve is 20". Tanks is euro braced, has a 24"x16" rectangle in the center. Seems I can only fit a 24" fixture. Would 6 lamp be enough for LPS or could I go with a 4 lamp?

Thanks

Nothing yet, so I made some changes on my own.

What is a tried and true 6 bulb combo for color and growth for sps?

When I was wondering the same, went thru the last year or so's worth of threads and the combo I found that was liked by the successful reefers was:

4 Blue+, 1 Coral+ and KZ Purple (or ATI Purple)

To my eye it's a 18K look.

Thanks! How do you think it will look if I did:

3 blue+
Coral+
Purple
Actinic

Thanks

What do you guys/gals think of a 6 bulb sunpower over a 90 gallon with the following:

Front:

BuildmyLED Super Actinic
Blue+
Coral+
Pure Actinic
Blue+
Coral+
Pure actinic

Back

Acropora dominant. Even at substrate level.

Or would a Hamilton Cebu sun be a better choice with no LEDs
Blue+
Pure actinic
Hamilton 14k x2
Pure actinic
Blue+
