grim,
i run a nova extreme pro on my 75 gal.
the lights are dual controlled (from the front) 1st and 5th on one line and 2,3,4,6 are on the other.
have a good setup suggestion? i have mostly soft corals but i'd like to add some additional sps besides the small montipora and caps i have.

Do Actinic White instead of pro color and use a Blue Plus in the 5th slot instead of the Aquablue
 
Am I blind? I have looked at reefgeek, marine depot and done a general web search for the Giesemann 6500K daylight bulb and don't see it. I only see the the 6000K midday.

Does anyone know where I can get the 6500K daylight lamp? Is the difference between it and the 6000K enough to worry about?

Grim what T-5 Ballast would you recommend that would drive 4 39W setup. the reason for my question is I am running 10 bulbs and i would like not to have 5 plugs and I don't think I will over drive them.

I would like to have the firing order as follows 2 - 4 - 4 with the middle 4 firing last. Three plugs are the maximum I want unless I got 12 bulbs and then that would be four plugs.
 
jwiz63: As PogoMonogo mentioned GE makes the 6,500K light, Giesemann makes the 6,000K Midday.

The Workhorse ballast will work for T5's although the lamps might not last as long as they would with a real T5 ballast. Aquactinics has to use them in their fixtures using 39 watt lamps because of space issues. The "real" T5 ballasts are 2x39 watt lamps each.

VS, Sylvania or Triad. Reefgeek has complete retrofit kits

Hey Grim,

I'm running 3 250w 20k SE Radiums over my 180g tank. Would it be worth it to add some T5s? If so, which ones? Thanks!
 
Does anyone have any experience or opinion on running a T5 pendant fixture slightly shorter than the length of the tank? I'm thinking this may help reduce light spillage, and I'm not a big fan of lighting areas that may not need to be lit (i.e. sides of tank).

The fixture I bought for the tank I'm setting up is too big, and I'm thinking of going with either a 36" ATI Powermodule or 36" ATI Sunpower on a tank measuring 47" x 22" x 20". Will this still be enough for SPS?

If you want dusk/dawn or want more blue in the look the ATI Blue Plus would be good.

I ran 48's on a 60" tank and 60's on a 72. Works fine.
 
Grim,

Currently I am running the following cofiguration:
Lights are 5" high from the water's line. I find the colors of SPS are very dull or faded almost beached like. Parameters are good.
My current light configuration is:

Note all bulbs are Giesemann

Front
54W Actnic +
54W AquaBlue
54W AquaBlue
39W Actinic +
39W UVL Aqua Sun
39W Actinic +

39W are used because I have a DAS tank and my over flow is huge. Color is great looks like a white light but I am wondering there is not enough blue?

How about this configuration:

Front
Actinic +
UVL 75/25
Actinic +
Giesemann Midday 6000K
AquaBlue Plus
Actinic +

I have mostly SPS on top and Shrooms and softies on the bottom.
