As far as I know current is the only one with that length lamp. Unless you get a 24" fixture and let it hang over the ends you are pretty much stuck with the current

Do you think it will be good enough or should I go with a 20" MH ? :P

I read your site and you say that Current bulbs are not very good.. I don't want to be stuck with a bad lighting system :(

Tek lights

Grim,

I have 2 48" 8 bulb tek lights on the way...

#1 ~ will be strictly for the sps frag tank.

#2 ~ the second will be a chalice/lps tank.

I am looking for great color and moderate growth.
Can I get a bulb layout?

Any input on the UV Indigo bulb?

Thanks

hey grim, i am running a 6 bulb nova extreeme pro on a 75gal mostly soft coral tank and a few sps. what would be the best bulb combo to achieve max growth and color. would like it more on the bluer side if possible

thanks

I am looking at the nova pro 48" 6 bulb unit with individual reflectors. i can pick up a refurb. one for decent money as I just can't spend the money for the tx5 yet.

I would just like to know if this unit is half way decent and how much life you think I can support in my 75 gallon tank.

Thanks,

chris

Heres the deal. Current's Blue Lamps look nice but don't have much PAR. The 10K's are pretty decent although not in the same league as the GE or Giesemanns. If you like the look of a 50/50 mix of Current brand lamps that will be fine. If not grab one of their little halide units.

The GE 3000K will bump the red and give pretty good PAR, Daylights hit yellow and higher rang green with a lot of par and the Blues have a lot of PAR and will look good.

Depends what you are growing and how it's placed.

If you have clams on the sand or SPS near the bottom I would be afraid of the Pro. If things are properly placed you should be fine.

I have heard a couple of reefers say that the ATI and UVL bulbs look washed out when overdriven by the IC660. Has anyone tried out the IC bulbs overdriven with the IC660? How do they look? I was thinking about retrofitting my outer orbit with 2 IC660's until I heard that...just looking for more opinions.

Bulb sugestions

Hello Mr Grim, Could you please suggest some bulbs for me?

First, I have a 40 Breeder, mixed tank. I have the 5 bulb TX5 light, what bulb combo would you suggest. I am looking for a good all around combo that is not too white.

Second tank will be a 20 long with a 4 bulb sun system new wave light. The bulbs are 21" 24 watt. This will be a frag, grow out tank. On this tank, the lights will be 6" from the top.

Thank you for your time and advice.

Overdriving an outter orbit probably isn't a good idea because of the heat you would have with the lamps so close together.

When overdriving the lamps you just need to use more blues. Because they are so bright it doesn't look as blue.

You can swap the first and last lamp positions if you don't think it looks blue enough with the Aquablue in front.

For the fragger go with 2 ATI Blue Plus and 2 GE 6500K Daylights.
