I'm purchasing my bulbs from reefgeek and i have the following
(3) ATI BLUE PLUS
(1) GE 6500K DAYLIGHT

Grim i need 3 more should it be (1) procolor and (2) ATI Aquablue?

FYI this will be a 7 bulb system? lmk

Unless you want to create a less blue look I would do the Pro Color, an Aquablue and and Blue Plus. That is still going to be a little less blue than you have now.

Grim Reefer shoukd i dump the daylight bulb so that i can more of the blue look?

I'd leave the daylight and dump the Aquablue. The daylight will help keep any red and yellow colors true. The Pro Color will bring in pink and purple. I Daylight and 1 Pro Color with 5 Aquablues is going to look pretty damn blue but nice. Bye the way, run 2 blue plus on the 430 for your dusk/dawn, they will not be quite as bright as the lamps running on the 660.

That should be nice.

Thanks for the answer! By the way, would PAR on my combination suffice for LPS?

Thanks

Hey Grim,

After all your tests and trials, how would you rank the "reds/pinks/purples" lights? (ProColor, 75/25, FIJI)

The Aquablues are about the same thing, a 50/50 lamp that is white with a slight blue tint. The Actinic Plus and Blue Plus are also about the same thing. .In your case do 2 Actinic Plus, 1 Aquablue and 1 Midday. Use the actinic Plus for dusk/dawn.
Thanks. Can I sneak a Fiji Purple in there, or do I need more than 4 lamps to keep it from standing out/washing out my colors? Would you recommend using it on the daylight cycle (it has a midday pink tone, correct?) or can I get away with it on the actinic cycle?

Thanks a ton, Grim!

I Like the UVL lamps myself. 75/25 and actinic white because they not only add in some red but also give you some actinic kick. The Fiji Purple is nice but for the price I will stick with the others. The pro color is nice in fixtures with more than 6 lamps. A little harsh if you don't have lots of blues to mellow it out.

Try the fiji instead of the GE unless you have a lot of green critters, then use it in place of the Aquablue.

The UVL will punch up the reds without being too harsh. You could try 3 Blue Plus and a Pro Color instead.

GRIM...this is how my lighting ended up.Im running 2x250w hammi 14k and im going to run 4x54(48")T-5's.
Now i need your help one more time.Could you tell me witch bulb will work the best and what order. These are the bulbs i have w/ me now(Ill give back what i dont use).

This is what i have...
3xATI Blue plus,
2xTRU Actinic 03,
1xTRU 10K,
1xUVL Actinic/White (50/50)12K
All 46.5,54watts

Great information, thanks a lot, here's my question I will be setting up a frag tank 48-24-12 and I was leaning towards the Nova Extreme Pro but after reading almost 3 hours trough ur thread seems like u recommend the Tek fixture so I will go with the Tek, now wich one do u recommend me to get the 6 or the 8 bulb, I'm planning in keeping pretty much anything from SPS to LPS to Clams, also Im looking for both color and growth wich light bulb configuration would u do front to back, but I must admit I like the Radium look. Thank u so much Mr. Grim.

I would do an 8 lamp fixture so you have room for the clams to be under the light. Do 6 ATI Blue Plus and 2 GE 6500K Daylight lamps.

I have 2 blue+, 2 75/25, and 2 6500k daylights in it now and its to yellow! Just bulbs I had lying around. Thanks for the advice

Hey Grim,

trying to decide between the following, or I am open to other suggestions

1.
aquablue
blue +
fiji purple
blue+
aquablue
aqua science special 15k

or

2.
aqua blue
blue+
figi purple
blue+
aqua blue
blue +

or

3.
aquablue
blue+
procolor
blue+
aqua science special 15K
aquablue

Any input would be great, whether one of my list or your own list.

Thanks

I decided on an ATI PM for my 3 ft mixed reef but not sure on length of fixture a 6x24 looks the best but only 144 watts where the 6x39 is 230w. Have not seen a PM so not sure if the 24 will put out enough light. Diff in cost for 24 vs 36" is $50. Any feedback on output ans shadowing of smaller fixture.
Thanks

Number 2 would be my choice. I would pr0bably place the lamps so the blue Plus is the front lamp/
