Hi Grim,

I just added 2 more bulbs to my setup for a 6x54W. I am looking for a bluer look that's good for SPS.

I have the following bulbs at my disposal.

(3) ATI blue +
(2) ATI Aquablue
(1) KZ Fiji Purple
(1) GE 6500 daylight
(1) UVL 75/25
(1) UVL 12000K Actinic White

try 3 Blue Plus, 2 Aquablue and the Fiji Purple.

hey grim, my fixture has 2 icecap fans that pull air thru fixture. should i put label ends of bulbs where cool air comes in? or at fan side where hot air blows out?
thanks

Hey Grim,

Im sure this has been asked before but I cant seem to find it in the 181+ pages O_o

I just bought a nova extreme 8 bulb fixture. I have a standard 90 gal with overflow. What bulbs would you recommend for this setup? I plan on adding coral in the near future so I need something good for that. I would like to achieve a deep blue look (something to really bring out the colors in the coral) when I turn on the actinic and a brilliant vivid white when they are both on. I hope that makes as much sense as does in my head.

Thanks for taking the time to help me and all the fellow reefers in this forum.

Hi Grim, what is the best option for cooling T5's that are used for supplements?
Ive got 2 Tek Slr reflectors w/ATi blue+ that im using as supplements to my metal halides. I have 4 3" fans laying around, should I use one on each end of the bulb? Or only 2 fans? Let me know what you recommend, thanks!

Grim, one more question pleaseeeee :D If I overdrive my 2 36" T5's with an Icecap 430. Will it change the color spectrum of my Ati Blue+ bulbs? Also how long do you think the bulbs will last on this ballast? Thanks so much for your help! :)

Hey grim thanks for the info! What order do you recommend?

Just look at any of the 10,000 or so lists I have given in this thread and you'll have an idea :spin2:. You want blues in the dusk/dawn slots so not knowing what your fixture is I'd just be wasting both our time trying to guess what your configuration is

You don't need to overdrive them for supplemental lighting. A fan blowing in from the rear at one side cooling the label end of both lamps will be fine, one fan will do it.

I have a 40gal (12"x36'"x 24"deep) I'm looking at the Nova Extreme 36" 156 watt fixture. I have LPS & softies as far as corals go. I don't plan on having SPS. I know there are better fixtures but with 2 kids in college I have to compromise. Does anyone have any experiences or opinions on this light?

Oh sorry, Grim. I forgot to mention I am using a retrofit kit with (3) 2x54 ballasts so wiring them and dusk/daylight effect would not be a problem. LMK what you think of the following:

Blue Plus
Aquablue
Fiji Purple
Blue Plus
Aquablue
Blue Plus

I'm looking to light a 60 cube (24" on each side) for SPS. Does anybody know if a 24" ATI 6-bulb Sunpower would be sufficient for this purpose? Otherwise, I'm looking at an 8-bulb retro T5 setup or a 400W MH possibly with some T5 supplementation.

Hey Grim first off thank you for all your input on this forum its amazing. I am looking to start a 50 gallon mixed reef and am having a hard time picking between the following:

36" 4x39W Powermodule T5 High-Output Fixture
36" 6x39W Tek Light Elite T5 High-Output Fixture
36" TX5 5-Lamp T5 Fixture by Aquactinics

Also if you can let me know your opinion and bulbs choices that would be great.

Thank you in advance.
