You will have to figure out the arrangement for the lamps based on which lamps will be dusk/dawn, use blue plus or current 460's in those positions.

I would add 3 ATI Blue Plus and 1 UVL Actinic White. That will do a world of good for balancing out the look of the 50/50 mix of current lamps which looks a little greenish to me.
thanks alot! the greenish tint is exactly what im trying to get away from so that should be perfect once i get the arrangement right.

Currently have a 4x54 Nova over my 75 LPS dominated tank. Lights are as follows

Front
Blue plus
KZ Fiji
Blue plus
Aquablue special

I will be purchasing the 8x54 Tek elite. Using those 4 bulbs along with 4 new ones, what would you suggest for the new fixture?

You don't need 8 bulbs over that tank. Actually I don't think an 8 bulb tek will fit. They are 24 inches wide and your tank is only 18.

Go with a 6 bulb tek or even better a 6 bulb Sunpower.

ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500K
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue

Hey guys, I may be welcome to last week on this but I see that KZ has come out with a "super blue 460nm". I like to run at least one deep dark blue along with 4 blue plus bulbs, a daylight and fiji purple.

I'm curious if this bulb has been tested. Does it have good output versus others in the 460 range?

Grim,
my plans have changed and i'm thinking of a rimless 40x 24x 22 or may be some thing a little longer 44" what size T5 setup would i need.

Need help on t5's for a 6' tank

Need help on t5's for a 6' tank

Hay grim, Im building a canapy for a friend, its 1' off the water where lights will mount. The tank is 6' X 18" X 20 tall. He is going to be having mostly fish and alot of zoo's of different kinds. What would be a good combo to bring out colors in zoo's and nice looking to the eye. We are going to start out with 4-54 watt t5's and add 2 more at a later date. Is six going to be enough being its a 6' tank and the t5's are only 48". Any input or new suggestions would be good. THANKS

Haven't checked. KZ lamps are a little spendy to be buying just for a test.

Hi,
I just bought new bulbs for my fixture, and as it turns out I am going to be moving to a larger tank. I'm getting 2 4 bulb icecap retro kits (8 bulbs total)
I currently have in my 6 bulb fixture that I will be moving to the new retro's:
4 ATI Blue Plus
1 GE 6500
1 UVL Actinic White

What 2 bulbs should I add to this?

Thanks for your input. The measurements for the 8x54 elits is supposed to be 19.5 wide. The tank is 18, so just the housing should stick over a bit. I know this is alot of light for my 75 but I plan on going to a 60"x22"x22" in the near future so I wanted something that will work for both and not have to worry about buying another fixture. I know a 6 bulb would work for my current 75 but do you guys think a 6 bulb fixture would be enough on my future tank? It will also be LPS dominated.

So basically I need to decide what fixture I can get away with on a 60"x22"x22" LPS dominated tank.

Sunpower 6x54 or 8x54 Tek elite

How does everyone clean off the salt spray on the reflectors? Soak in vinegar?

Have you tried water? You could even go nuts and use RO. It's worked for me but I do it often.

Hey Grim, I'm thinking of getting a 24x24x20 cube and want to know if the ATI 4x24w Powermodule will be enough to light me up. I'm not concerned with height but more with front to back lighting. A friend of mine has a 4 bulb TEK over his Aqueon 29 and has burned most LPS he's put in there. I was thinking with the extra depth I can put the light slightly towards the back and have LPS in the front. think this will work? Thanks man!
