Grim, I'm running an 8x80w Powermodule over a standard 180g, SPS dominant.

I'm currently running:

Front:
ATI AB
ATI Blue+
Fiji Purple
ATI Blue+
ATI AB
ATI Actinic
ATI Blue+
ATI AB

I have a couple of extra ATI Blue+ to play with. What do you think of my current setup? I'm considering swapping the Actinic with another Blue+. Would you make any changes?

Try the Blue Plus in place of the actinic, other than that looks good.

Hi Grim, et al

Thinking about a 2x24" T5 for a macroalgae refugium application. Chamber is 27"x10"x20" (lngthxdeepxht.)

Will this work well? I could get a clip light from Lowes but since its long and narrow I thought T5 would work better also I am using 24" T5 for another tank already.

If so bulb recs?

Be fine. Id use the 6500K GE lamps.

Official back as a full T5 tank. New Sfiligoi Stealth 12 bulb fixture - The nicest finish I have ever seen on a fixture.

Hey Grim I think you may have missed my Q. Is the Tek Elite worth the extra 100 bucks over the regular Tek(8x54). Is it comparable to the ATI units? I found the Tek Elite for $492 free shipping. BTW this is for the 4' 90 oceanic.

Hey Grim

I'm loving the color and pop of my ATI Blue Plus bulbs when my halides go off. Would they put out enough par to run 5 blue plus and 1 fiji purple and ditch my 250w MH?

Going for a nice 20k look with lots of "pop".

I have a mostly zoa and LPS dominated tank with just a few easy SPS.

NICE! Bulb combo please!

Bulb combo front to back is:

A Blue+
A Ge 6500k
B Blue+
B Blue+
C Fiji Purple
C Blue+
B Blue+
B Fiji Purple
C Blue+
C Blue+
A Ge 6550K
A Blue+

I only run the all 12 on at the same time for only a couple of hours, but most of the time I have on just 6 Blue + and 2 Fiji Purple - my favorite combination.

Not sure how they went about cooling them. I doubt it matches up to the ATI but any fans have gotta help so I'd guess it's a step up from the standard Tek.

FWIW..... My Sfiligoi Stealth pictured above has 6 cooling fans in it and well over 50% the surface area of the fixture is mesh.

I have seen both ATI and Sfiligoi. The quality build on the Sfiligoi is outstanding... What is it that you don't like about them?

My experience is on a 6x54 stealth. Low PAR (less than a Tek), the fact they spaced the reflectors up to clear the ballasts so they were too close to the lamps (Some even rub) is part of it, lack of cooling and no vents in the top so the ballasts get cooked probably doesn't help either. It looked to me like the designed this nice case then figured out a way to fit all the guts inside.

There was a very long thread where a guy with a T5/halide fixture of theirs had issues and it took them forever to resolve it. For what they charge there is no way in hell the guy should have had to open the fixture up and do his own electrical trouble shooting. It was a cooling fan issue in the remote ballast box. You would think they would have just sent him a new box rather than jacking him around for months.

On the positive side the finish was very nice but for the money they are asking I would want to see performance figures first.

Yeah, that mesh could make all the difference in the world. I tried a 6" fan pushing air just like the factory fans did and it didn't help much at all which I again suspect is a combination of overheated ballasts and the reflectors being against the lamps.

You don't by chance have any PAR readings from yours do you?

Yeah, the Blue Plus have a lot of PAR so assuming you are using good equipment and the tank isn't over 24" tall you should be fine.

I guess you must have tried a very old unit. They do have active cooling. The old distributor is long gone. The new ppl provide excellent service from what I hear... And yeah, I can't believe Europeans would build something less than a Tek in terms of performance. It just does not happen..
