how is the par on the fiji purp? i am currently running on my 24'' 4 bulb sunpower

ati blue +
ati aquablue spec
kz fiji purp
ati blue +

i really like the look of dawn dusk with the blue + and the fiji purp running. it looks very "sunsettish". however my main concerns are sps coloration and growth. What would you recommend? i have a bunch of other bulbs laying around.

my growth is noticeable almost daily in most corals but i want these sticks to be weeds!

thx for all your responses to our qeueries grim ;)

The Fiji is OK in PAR, not great but good enough.

Grim-

I just switched out a Giesseman Aquablue for a figi Purple. I love the look. I played with the order and settled on the following. ATI 6 lamp Sunpower

Front
Blue +
Blue+
UVL White
Blue+
Figi Purple

BACK

I tried it with the following and it looked off

What do you recomend with the above bulbs?

hi, im getting ready to upgrade to a 75 gal in a few months and would like some input on how much light. i found a 4 bulb 48" T5 fixture for $50 but am not sure if that would be enough to keep sps in the tank. i want to keep a mix of stoney and soft corals so should i look into a 6 bulb fixture?

Hey Grim,

I cant seem to find the answer to this question in the thread, so here goes...

I'm looking at picking up the following used fixture from a fellow reefer for $380

http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5...tput_Retrofit_Kit_w!_Bulbs_by_Sunlight_Supply

I plan on building my own hood with acrylic shield and two of the following fans mounted on one end and two vents on the other end. Here are the fans I plan on using

http://www.aquacave.com/eco-plus-45-axial-brfan-112-cfm-2873.html

The fixture will be 6 inches tall and will be held over the following size acrylic tank by a pully system

60" long
18" wide
20" tall

The tank will be sps only and will be loaded with coral. Will I be able to keep sps on the sand?

Here is the tank that it is going to be house over

Being built right now

Thanks,

Ok, I have the following bulbs to go into a 36" 6 bulb ATI PM:

3 x ATI Blue+
2 x KZ Fiji Purple
1 x ATI 03 Actinic

What order would be best to put them in?

Thanks in advance!

If you havent already ordered get the LET retro, better reflectors that take up less space. You might think about using 3 fans. Not sure 2 are going to cover all the lamps.

I think 2 Fiji's with a Actinic is going to look way funky. PICTURES!!!!

i have a current USA Nova sundial T5 light fixture 4ft 4 bulb on a 150 gallon 4ft 2 ft wide 30 inch deep tank.
have just used the stock current sunpaq bulbs that are 460 actnic and 10K.
someone told me i should ask on here what bulbs should i replace with as these are more of the cheaper kind.
keeping soft a few lps and easier sps so far in my tank.newer tank from dec so corals are small.

so need suggestions on the bulbs i need to order(did just change them this morning but want backups and may change with your suggestions.

future may be another 4ft or just a clip on metal halide at one end but that is future but also open to suggestions as sometimes i just get in one of them spur of the moment moods and just go for it.

so main thing is what bulbs and even place that carries them.
far as color i want best for tank
even time suggestions for the tank with bulbs recommended

I just treid that combo and it looks bad ***. I didn't think replacing the UVL White with the Figi Purple would look different but it does. I had the Figi in the back because I heard somewhere they are good growth bulbs..I looked up on your site some info and it doesn't seem to matter. I have a heavy SPS tank with most of them from the middle to the back. Wit the Figi I'm seeing colors I didn't notice before and putting that aquablue back in and removing the white actinic is something I would not have thought about. Thanks Grim!

I have the same bulbs and I love the look of my tank

I'd be real careful what corals I was putting in there. Even a good high end fixture with just 4 lamps would limit what you can raise. I would use 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and 1 KZ Fiji Purple. Reefgeek or Aquarum specialty should have them

so do i put the 2 ati blue plus on same timer where actnics are now and run on longer cycle?

then other 2 on shorter cycle?

I have a question, I need advice on lighting, Grim & anyone else with an opinion out there!

I currently have a 40 breeder (36"L x 18"W x 17"H). I have a RBTA in here along with some SPS and a yellow Fiji leather (and some various LPS/softies (moving)).

This tank is currently lit by a 4 bulb ATI Powermodule - 2 ATI Blue+, UVL 75/25 and a UVL Aquasun, hung over the tank from the ceiling.

Now, here is my dilemma. I would like to move all the LPS/softies/shrooms into a 20gallon long (30"L x 12" W x 12" H), which will sit next to the 40 breeder (will plumb them together). My question is, what is a good light for this? At first I thought maybe a 24" 2 bulb ATI PM, but then I saw they don't make those.

So the options I see so far are:

1. buy a 24" 4 bulb ATI PM and try to put in lower PAR bulbs and lift the fixture enough so it doesn't shrivel my softies/shrooms etc. Pro: would match the other tank, Con: pricey and might be overkill for an LPS tank.

2. buy a lesser quality 30" fixture that can sit on the tank but I'm not sure about the options available here. Pro: probably cheaper, Con: odd length bulbs will be hard to replace with decent stuff, won't match.

3. upgrade the 40 breeder into a 36" 6 bulb unit instead and use the 4 bulb (36") over the 20 long, even though it will hang over the edges. Pro: would match the other tank, Con: pricey and might be overkill for an LPS tank, and could be overkill for my RBTA/SPS tank?

4. ???

What would you do? Any advice would be very welcome, Thank you!
