According to Grim and the pictures I have seen, it is pretty much identical.

Grim looked at both the Fiji and Purple Plus under a spectrometer and they were identical.

I have been wondering this myself. Good to know that the spectrometer reading from Grim was identical which would lead me to believe that the PAR rating should be very similar and with a difference of $8 or so in price the choice will be easy for me!!

FWIW, it would be nice if ATI could develop a comparable bulb to the KZ New Gen.

I have a 72 gallon bow front. Mixed softies and a GBTA. I just picked up t5 fixture from the used goods. Not sure of the brand. Its a four bulbs 48" fixture. Currently it has two 10k and two atinics. Its super bright and very white. I would like to add a little blue to it.
What are your suggestions????

If you like spending an extra $10 a bulb then I say go with them.

I personally don't care for KZ any longer. Now that ATI has the Purple Plus, I see no need to ever run KZ stuff.

The New Gen is a very nice bulb.

t5 too bright?

t5 too bright?

I upgraded from a 2x65w pc to a t5 6x39w last night. OMG it's freaking bright. Too bright. After looking in the tank(in the tank not @ the lights) for a few minutes my eyes hurt for a few hours. Really they did. I am going to try to use just 4 of the lights and or build a shelf/open top canopy to put the light on to raise up up higher than the legs.

Has anyone else experinced it this.

The New Gen is a very nice bulb.

Just ordered one of these to test in place of an aquablue special. Also ordered an Aqua Science Duo, interested to see how it looks in the aquablue's slot.

Replace all 4 bulbs.

2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Purple Plus and 1 ATI Aquablue

I would drop at least one Aquablue for another Blue Plus and I would dump the Pro Color for another Purple Plus.

That would be pretty damn sweet!! And to sell at $8 less is a no brainer. I can't wait to see the ATI P+ when I reorder some bulbs. Keep putting in the good word for the ATI's answer to the KZ New Gen.:beer:

Thank you so much for helping me figure out the correct T5's to use on my DT and frag tanks!
But now im setting up a tank just for a zoanthid/paly farm and frag area.
The tank dimensions are 48x13x13 i was thinking a 4 bulb 48" fixture will do the trick but what light combo should i get? I want these corals to grow fast and colorful.

I would like to still have the dusk to dawn effect if possible. Even so the first bank of lights don't come on until 11am, so there is a little light that does reach the tank.
