Thanks for the advice,

I'm currently running set up # 1 without the Fiji Purple. I would to ask your opinion to see with set up ( # 1 and # 2) is better for growth the SPS in my tank and to have the look 20K.

Set up # 1 without ATI Purple +

looking to fix the color issues with my current setup i have a 55gal and have a 48LED DIY fixture. With 24 CW and 24RB i really do not like the super blue ting and washing out of the colors so i wanted to add 2 x 24" T5s to bring some of it back. What would be my best bet for bulbs? I was thinking something like the KZ Fiji Purple and a Midday of some sort to get some of the white back and balance the super blue with some red. I have a red planet and a number of red zoos that i would like to get the color back out of.

Thanks!

Can someone help me find the page with PAR readings for each bulb? I've searched a few things and haven't had any luck.

My Tank dims are 60"Lx30"Wx24"H, SPS heavy.

Would I be better off running my current fixture, 48" Constellation 7x54w? or running a 60" TEK 4x80w?

I know I still get more wattage running the 7x54w, but I was more concerned about the spread of the lighting...plus less bulbs would save me more long term! Any help is appreciated. Thx in adv.

The 7 bulb for sure!

You aren't even going to come close to covering that tank with only 4 bulbs. 7 bulbs is even too little. For 30" front to back, you really need 10 bulbs especially for SPS heavy.

My tank right now is 18" front to back but I only need to light 14" of that and 4 bulbs barely covers that and I mean barely. I had a 6 bulb unit and sold it. i regret that decision every day.

I thought so...thx Ryan. I was thinking, an increase in length/watts would account for the smaller amount of bulbs. Thanks for checking me on this!

I agree, I'm trying to purchase a Sfiligoi Stealth 12x80w or a 10x80w ATI Powermodule...just too pricey for me at the moment!!!

Im currently running an ATI T5 sunpower fixture on my rimless open top tank and its amazing and adds little heat to the tank, all goes to the side.

Now on my new system it has a canopy but with an open top so it will have room to cool.

Do T5 retrofit kits like the Tek on open top canopies put out more heat directly to the tank VS the ATI fixture?

THX in advance

Ok, I need a little help with lighting. I am setting up two 120’s one will be a reef tank (a good mix of zoa’s, sps, lsp and maybe a clam) and the other will be a fish only tank (aggressive). They will be on the same wall with a tv in between them. I wanted to see what you thought I should use on them. The tanks are 18Wx24Dx60L. Questions, How many bulbs, What order, What order should they come on and go off and What length for each tank. Thank you soooo much for your help

i have asked this question already but i figured i would ask it here as well. i have a workhorse 7 and was woundering if anyone sees a problem with running 8x 24w t5ho on the same ballast paralleled in sets of 2

i currently have a 8x 54w catatalina fixture. i really do not care for this fixture as the bulbs are right next to each other with a very minimal reflector.

would i get more par if i switch to a 6x 54w retro with slr reflectors? i would only be able to fit 6 i believe in 18".

As long as it is a good retro kit with proper cooling, yes you should.

I'd do the purple and a ATI Blue Plus. I know You don't want a lot of blue but I think using a daylight with the purple and the LED's you have will end up looking like crap.

Maybe a little because the ATI has the splash shield that keeps the heat from radiating down to the water.

6 lamps 48" should be fine. Because they are on either side of the TV I would shoot for the same look on each so

Not unless you consider fire an issue :hmm3::spin2::hmm3:

I wouldn't try it. It messes with the current and voltage and the Workhorse is a dumb ballast so if something overclocks too far it could melt down.

Anyone have any input on a hydrofarm fixture for an aquarium? I'm looking at less expensive ways to light a tank.
