Thanks Grim! So do you think the 4x39 would be underpowered for us?

I'm trying to go as cheap as I can, without compromising quality too much.

Thanks,
Mat

If you have to think about cheap you shouldn't be doing marine aquariums of any type. It just doesn't come out well. DO 6 LAMPS, you wont regret it.

Really! The ATI's are THAT good? We're talking proper cooling with a fan that blows air and whatnot.

My two ATI's are about 10 months old, and I'm considering replacing them with new ATI's.

Guisemann lamps are close in PAR, or were before ATI updated their lamps. I've had numerous people tell me the ATI hold it's blue color longer. I personally never got to keep a set of lamps running long enough to find out first hand :spin1:

Would the color and output of par be good in you opinion and I'm ordering my bulbs for the new tank it is 48x24x25 how many bulb fixture would you recommend and it will be lps dominant with mass quantity of wrasses

A little to the blue edge of 14K, good PAR. For that tank you want 8 lamps.

Thanks grim the order would be

Would the above be Ok^^ ? And what is ge 6500k daylight ? If I can't them what tubes would you suggest? Thanks for all the help

GE is GE..... Reefgeek sells them. If you can't get that a Guisemann Midday will work. Your order is about right but your list looks short one lamp, you have the right idea though.

Santi anni, my old stomping grounds...

If you want a Anemone 4 lamps isn't much light and I sure wouldn't recommend using UVL lamps, they don't have a lot of PAR.

Dang Grim, that's a huge change of scenery from Santa Ana to Aurora..:D
What bulbs would you recommend then? The tank is only 18" tall and I'm mostly keeping zoas. Just 1 or 2 bta for the clownfish. Thanks!!
Perhaps some ATI bulbs? Which colors?

Grim Reefer I have a 72x18x29 reef tank and can't decide between the ATI 6x80 or 8x80? also the best bulb config for growth and color pop with a blue to it? the tank will have SPS, LPS, Soft, and zoas.

So...I have two fixtures on my tank. A 2x150MH and a 2x39w T5 I use for suppliment. Right now I have on had a Catlina 460, 2 Catlina Actinics, and a Hagen Marine Glo Actinic.

Which combo of those 2 bulbs would your recommend?

Flip a coin, they are all low end lamps. use the 460 and whatever else looks best.

Some SPS would be OK at the bottom, the lower light stuff but I'd want high light stuff up off the bottom.

Grim,

Thanks for all the help you have provided to everyone! Currently have a 4x2x2 120g and looking to switch to T5 from MH to save a bit. Also, in the future I plan on upgrading to a 6x3x27" marineland 300DD. Any advice on how I can put T5's over my 120G and then transfer them over to my 300DD in the future...about 1/2 years?

I plan on an SPS tank with LPS and softies at the bottom in the 300DD with open swiming.....only 2 rock piles with corals. Maybe 2-36" light fixtures over each pile? How many lights? How about 60" lights over my 120 for the time being with spillage over the side? Or???????

thanks,

jon

Get a 10x39 watt fixture for the 120 and add a second when you upgrade
