6' 12 bulb T5 Fixture

6' 12 bulb T5 Fixture

What do you recommend for this fixture.. I have mostly LPS, clams, and a few SPS. i dont like a lot of blue or yellow look. thanks

I saw an amazing tank photo with an ATI fixure about an inch from the top of the tank. Can this be done or was the lights placement for the photo only. I have a euro-braced 40 gallon breeder. I'm looking at a 39 watt 6 bulb dimmable ATI Sunpower, a 6 bulb ATI Powermodule, or a 4 bulb ATI Powermodule. I don't want to buy a chiller. I want to keep 2 maxima clam low in the tank and a couple acros and styllos.
Thanks!

Be fine an inch up, you just gotta clean the shield a lot.

The Sunpower is more than enough for clams in a 40B

Thanks Grim! I called the Star Trek office and they said they don't sell photon torpedo equipment to convert into lighting. I guess I'll purchase the dimmable Sunpower.

OK fella's here it is: I printed off spectrum charts of all the availiable bulbs on the Reef Geek's lighting site. HaaaSooooo, that helps alot in understanding what we are trying to achieve. So I came up with the following array, my only question would be this array affords virtually no red according to the charts, has anyone tried the UVL Red Sun bulb, along with the others in this array would it work instead of one of the four blue+'s, or would it kill the blue's

Maybe I've learned something!

ATI Sunpower 8x54 fixture:

Front
ATI Blue+
ATI Aqua Blue Special
ATI Blue+
UVL Aqua Sun 10K
ATI Blue +
UVL Super Actinic
ATI Purple+

Purple plus and Aquasun both have red in them so you are good there. If you are going to run an actinic make sure it's in a dusk dawn slot. They are pretty much worthless for anything else if you run blue pluses.

I have '7' lamps for '6' positions in my fixture...what order should I put them in??
-4x Blue+
-1x Purple Plus
-1x KZ New Gen
-1x KZ Coral Light

...the 2 KZ lamps are brand new so I would like to use them.

While I like there plots you have to go to the enlarged pop ups to see there spikes in red. Both the Aqua SUN 10K which is realy a standard 10,000K bulb as well as the ATI Purple Plus will give you more than enough red.

As far as your FLR tank goes it they are close together I would recommend simular lighting on both. Otherwise it will a matter of one obvious blue and the other one obviously yellow and one being grighter than the other. For that tank selection of what you need is less important as the only thing your looking for is visual effect rather than trying to grow much.

With your bulbs I would start with putting the purple plus and the Blue plus into your dawn to dusk circuit. The purple plus in the front most of thoise positions.

For the rest you want the Coral Light as close to the center as possible and the new generation close to the back of the tank.

Trop: How about a 4 light fixture incorporating the same bulbs as the 8x54, just less of them, like

ATI Blue+
UVL Aqua Sun 10K
ATI Purple+

Better Yet how about new PC bulbs in the 12K White and Super Actinic ranges?
I've got the fixtures, would be nice to use them.

TropTrea...why do you advise taking one of the two Blue+ out of the two lamp dawn/dusk and replacing it with a Purpe Plus?
#1 and #5 are dawn/dusk positions...I had been running 2-Blue+ for dawn/dusk.
Should I choose 'A' or 'B' ?
Or something different?

A: (front to back)
1. Blue +
2. Purple Plus
3. KZ Coral Light
4. Blue +
5. Blue +
6. KZ New Gen

B: (F to B)
1. Purple Plus
2. Blue+
3. Kz Coral Light
4. Blue +
5. Blue +
6. KZ New Gen

is there a giesemann or ulv bulb that is similar to the GE bulb??

Im putting together a bulb package for an 8 bulb ati fixture on a mixed reef.
As I said before I was thinking:
B+ (4)
p+ (2)
Ge
Aquasun

however the site im using doesnt carry the GE...what bulb would you suggest in place? How is the Giesemann Midday?

Try the Purple lamp in the 5th position just to see what you think. It's not a Dusk/Dawn look everyone is going to like but it's pretty cool.

You don't want a purple or yellow lamp as the front lamp, it will make the tank look very red or yellow. Your top list looks good.

Midday is perfectly fine, very close to the GE.

So then actually use the bottom list ('B') but switch #1 & #5 so that the purple plus is in #5 and Blue+ in #1....and not the top list?
