grim, do you know if tek and KZ fixtures are comparable considering both are not over driven and both lack active cooling?

Are you serious? Need a good 8 lamp fixture over that tank.

can you offer a little more insight as to why a 8 bulb tek over a 120gallon with all sps is such a bad choice? even if a clip on fan is added?

I know who the players behind it are, should be a very slick unit from what I know of is so far. Truly modular so you can add lamps as you need them. Should be out pretty soon.

Had to re read your post, thought you were going from the halides to a 4x39 Elos T5 :rollface:

8 lamp Tek would be OK but if you want clams or a lot of SPS I'd get a Constellation or a Powermodule.

Its about that time to change my bulbs.. About 8-9 months ago you told me to go with:

UVL 75/25
2- blue plus
aquablue special

I was wondering if I should go with the same bulb combination or should I switch any of them?

Hi Grim,

I have a 48" Nova Extreme T5HOx2 fixture over my 75 gallon FOWLR tank. It has been up and running for 13 months now. I plan on upgrading this fixture down the road but that is probably another year away. For now I am planning on replacing the bulbs. What would you recommend? I was thinking an ATI Blue + with an ATI Aquablue Special. They seem to be pretty popular choices, but after browsing through pages of this thread I did not find one of your suggestions for a 2 bulb fixture. I am sure it is there and I just didn't look far enough. Is there anything your would recommend over that combo? Thanks,

That is probably your best option, Stick with it.

Dunno, The ability to be able to expand it is nice but if you dont think you are going to change tanks anytime soon the ATI is a good choice.

One more question on this. Since this fixture has the single reflector, would I be better off with the UVL bulbs with the built in 180 degree reflector. I have seen that the ATI's put out more par, so would they still be better than the UVL's even with the crappy reflector? Thanks,

With no reflector the UVL is better, I am really not sure about a flat reflector.

Ok, so I'm gonna have a sump with frag tank built in under my stand. I was trying to figure out what t5 fixture to go with... The frag tank area of my sump will be 24"x12"x18". What fixture would work well without breaking the budget. Mostly SPS. Thanks

Nova sundial or 4 lamp Tek will work, just be careful about placing the high light critters. Keep them in the upper half.
