Grim,

Sorry but i read alot f the thread and my eyes hurt. I have a 40 breeder and ordered the new tek t5 light. I am going from a MH to t5. I am keeping zoos, rics, montis and various others. I like the 14k look and wanted to see what at good build configuration would be. Thanks and sorry for the question if you have already answered?. Thanks

Might be a little more blue than 14K but close. If you want a more white look substitute the #5 blue plus for an ATI Aquablue. That will probably be in line with the more bright 14K's but still have a tad of blue to it

If you want to run T5's as a way of decreasing the amount of time the halide runs use 4

Thanks "The Grim Reefer" LOL
Yes decreasing the amount of time the 250w 14k halide runs so
do i Run recomeneded T5/MH/T5 combo with powerbrites?
I love the shimmering effects and dawn to dust effect of the Powerbrites.

These are the bulbs I have now, but they're a year old and need replacement:
36" 39w ATI Aquablue
36" 39w ATI Blue Plus
36" 39w UVL Aquasun
36" 39w ATI Blue Plus
36" 39w GE 6500K Daylight

For the most part I'm pretty happy. I'd like a slightly bluer color though. I do have some SPS, but not much. It's mostly softies and leathers in my tank. I do have 3 Bubble Tip Anemones though.

Any suggestions for what I should change up? I would prefer to buy everything from Bulkreefsupply.com if at all possible.

Tank is 65g, 24" deep I believe.

Yeah, maybe grab an Aquablue as a spare in case you want to brighten up the look just running the PB's and T5's. Slap it in place of the slot #3 Blue Plus.

Drop the Aquablue for another Blue Plus and the Aquasun for a UVL Actinic White. End result should be slightly more blue and better actinic pop

Hey Grim, I added a 5th bulb to my T5 setup. My previous bulb line up was, SPS blue life 15k, blue +, UV aquasun, blue + via 4x24watt current sundial. I used a 460mn current bulb for now till I order new bulbs, which should be sooner than later. I was told by a rep a reef geek I should do 3 blue +, UV actinic white or 75/25, and a GE 6,500. What do you think of that line up? Or I was thinking, in order front to back:
Blue +
6,500k
Super Actinic
Aqua Blue or 10k ice cap
Blue +
Any thoughts?

Grim how would this combination of bulbs be for sps and about what kelvin would this combo put out?

This combo would be used in a 48'' 6 bulb nova extreme pro on a standard 55 gallon.

4 54w ati blue plus
1 54w ati aqua blue special
1 54w uvl aqua sun

Beyond 15K blue with a slight purple tint to it.

The one you laid out front to back.

Do you think one actinic in place of a blue + is a good idea? Reef Geek recommended:
Blue plus
Actinic White or 75/25
Blue plus
6,500 k
Blue plus

I wanted to try:
Blue plus
Aqua blue or 10k
Super Actinic
6,500 k
Blue plus

I think I'd still be able to get the pop/red color from the super actinic simular to the effect of the actinic white or 75/25; but at the same time get a whiter light with my 6,500 and 10k/aqua blue. What would you do as far as the Aqua blue or 10k? I have a blue color w/ my blub line up now but I want a clean white look w/ good PAR. Would I been working against my goal for changing a blue + for a super actinic?

You've read the thread, I don't see any reason not to try it. It's going to be slightly more of a deepwater effect that using a blue plus.

I am interested in installing a solar flare on our 75 gal . I know I can do a retro kit a lot more economically but I love the simplicity of just installing the Solar Flare and plugging it up. We have a custom enclosure that is open on the back but it is against the wall and it has 2 area's 2"x18" that vent to the top in the rear. If I go with the Solar Flare I was going to hang it so air can move over the top easily but the ends will only have about an inch airspace and cutting airholes in the ends really is not an option. Will 1" on the ends be enough airspace or should I look at something else? Thanks in advance for your help

If I remember right the flare vents from side to side, that might not be the best solution for an in canopy installation.

Aquactinics Constellation would be better or a 6 lamp ATI Sunpower. Either will give you enough light to grow about anything in that tank.

Changing over to a full t5 retro. 6 bulbs with options for 2 more if they will fit. Currently using all Guiseman bulbs. 4 actinc +, 1 true actinc. 1 10k. Not in that order. With the new retro is slr reflectors, and room for more bulbs. I also have 2 new pro color bulbs but have heard of people have algea issues with them. What bulbs and configuration for 6 bulbs, and if you can add up to 2 more what would they be? I have guiseman readily availble locally but can order as well. Thanks!
