WOW, going from LED's to T5's? What LED system are you using?

6 lamps over a 90. Go with 4 overdriven and 2, the first and last on a standard T5 ballast

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500K Daylight
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus

ran the solaris I-5 Lost 2 banks and cant afford to keep fixing.

I am currently running a 30" t5 4 bulb fixure. My bulbs are about a year old and im reading I should think about changing them. What would the best combination be?

hey grim. i sold my 4 bulb tek for a 6x39 sunpower. im going to be using this over my 36Lx24Wx12T tank. as of right now i have mostly low light corals (zoas, duncans, and a baby rbta) so im guessing it would be better to only run 4 bulbs for now.

the fixture is going to come with these bulbs. what should i run if only running four, or should i just run all 6?

4x ATI Blue Plus
1x UVL Actinic WHITE
1x ATI- Aquablue Special

Thanks Grim!

So if I wanted a little bluer look what would you do with the combination without losing par? Also are the actinic white and fiji purple comparable in color temp?

Thanks!

That right there is going to have good PAR and be pretty damned blue. The Fiji Purple is more subtle than the Actinic white and would give you a little more blue look. Either way it will be close to 20K

Run 2 Blue Plus the Aquablue and the Actinic White.

You could remove the reflector from the front dusk/dawn slot and mount some blue LED inside the fixture so you will still have dusk/dawn. Just superglue the LED pods to the inside top of the fixture.

I've never shopped for led pods. Any you reccomend over others? I would definitely liketo have a sunrise/set

Need a better description of what the lights are.

The two light strip is a Coralife with 10,000k white and actinic coralife bulbs. The 4 light doesn't have any ID but it looks like my Coralife PC fixture except it's black, t5 and has moonlights. It has Odyssea bulbs, 2 actinic and then 2 12,000k daylight.

Grim Reefer,

Howzit? I am in the market for T5's, and was hoping you could shed some light on the matter. Any input would be appreciated regarding lights and fixtures.

I have an 80G tall, which is 4ft long and just under 2.5ft high. Fish only with some softies, and not planning on any hard corals.

I like SunSystem's Tek Light (recommended to me). I have also been looking into the AquaticLite fixtures. I am willing to go the DIY route, but I am running my tank without the hood at the moment, and would have to install a fan etc...which is a little more work that I can do at the moment.

In your opinion, how many bulbs should I run? Any advice on a fixture? I will go with 48" if it will fit, but will 36" be enough? FYI, money is sort of an issue right now.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I would use 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Actinic White and a ATI Aquablue. Use 2 blue plus in the 2 lamp fixture for dusk/dawn

Do a 6 lamp Tek, 54 watt version (4 ft) would be best but the 3 foot version would work.

Hello Grim, I have a few questions.

I recently bought a 4 bulb 24" PM for my 22g Cad tank. The display is 24"x10"x14"

I currently have the light 10" high above the tank and 14" from the closest sps. How long shall I wait to start lowering the light and how high from the tank should I keep it at. Its an all sps tank.

I have figi purple front
blue plus
aqua blue
blue plus back

Is that a good combo or shall I switch the bulbs around?

Thanks very much

Grim,

I am running 4 T5's standard driven over a 35 gallon corner hex tank. I am currently running:

Giesseman Pure Actinic
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

I am keeping Acans, LPS, and Zoas only in this tank. Would you recommend a different bulb combo, I am just not getting QUITE the pop I would like....

Thanks!

Don

t5 ho 6x54w nova

t5 ho 6x54w nova

i have the Current USA Nova with the stock 3-10k and 3-460nm actinics and im gettign somewhat good growth on my frogs pawn, zoo's and duncan but was looking arround at other options and noticed the different spectrums there are like the 12k,18k, red lights, violet lights, super blue actinics, claiming they grow coral better etc. my question is i was wonder what you guys would suggest as a good combination other than what came stock on the light from the factory? i was thinking about getting a violet light, red light, and a super blue actinic but i know nothing about these spectrums and wanted to ask first. any suggestions be it lighting or even the combination i put them in my fixture would greatly be apreciated. thanks

i am running this light on a 80 gal reef with, zoos, a green dunca, frogs pawn, orange ricordia and star polyp. i would one day like to keep clams, birds nest, challis, acan and brain coral.

Whic T5 = better purple corals?

Whic T5 = better purple corals?

Grim,

I also post this on the main forum.
I Would like some suggestion on T5 bulbs that enhance purple corals. I've try many different bulbs and found that some are better with certain color. so far, GE 6500 Daylight seems to bring out the purple color corals.

I would like to know what other bulbs out there can do a grate job in enhancing purple corals.

My current light setup:

Front:

ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus D/D
Fiji purple
GE 6500 Daylight
UV Super Artinic D/D
ATI Blue Plus

Best

Ethan
