Hey grimm

Im getting the Ati Sunpower 6 bulb fixture.... Im also planning on adding ecoxotic stunner LEDs to the lighting setup over my tank. I am keeping chalices and dendros. Heres what im thinking but im not sure about:

ati blue +
ati aquablue
KZ fiji purple
ati blue +
ati aquablue
ati blue +

Considering i am also adding the blue LEDs, is this setup overly blue? I def like a cool blue setup. Would you swap out the fiji purple for something else? A purple tinge sounds like it might be nice, ive just never seen it in person.

Please feel free to edit my lighting setup to what you think would work best....

i like the color but i want to upgrade my lighting. i want to run 6 bulbs. 4x54 on a icecap660 and 2x54 on an advance ballast with reef geek reflectors. can you suggest a bulb combo to get about the same look? what order and should i run the front and the back bulbs on the advance and the middle 4 on the icecap? thanks for all your help.

you might need to tweak the positions to get blue lamps in the dusk dawn positions but the mix will be a brighter blue but definitely blue.

No, not unless you are using a fixture with no reflectors.

I need to upgrade my lighting... I was told you could make a recommendation. Right now I have a 65 gallon 36" Long. I currently have a Coralife Power Compact set up with 10,000K and 96W... 4 bulbs.

I'd like to get something better without breaking the bank. Preferably I would like to get a set up on legs... and something that will be good for any corals should I go that route. I just have SPS now.

Can you recommend something and maybe where to get it? I'd like to keep my cost under $400 if at all possible.

You can get a 6 lamp Tek light for that at reefgeek or aquarium specialties.

Lower one will be slightly less blue and pick up pink and purple colors better.

I wouldn't use Ice Cap ballast. They make the lamps look less blue which is the whole point of supplemental lighting. 2 Actinic Plus and a Pure actinic will look good on whatever ballast you use, I just think it will look better with standard ballasts.

If you are going with 4 lamps 2 of the standard ballasts is good, that gives you the option of 2 stages of dusk/dawn which is cool.

If you do three lamps call reefgeek and see what your options are, I don't remember if the 2 lamp ballasts will fire a single or not. Worst case scenario is you use a work horse.
