I am setting up a 33 long as a Zoas Frag Tank.
I ordered a 48" Nova Extreme Pro 6x54 watt T5 HO Model#1081B W/SLR.

I am sure that the factory lamps will need to be replaced.

What would you recommend. I would love to have color, but growth is probably more important.

Do 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Actinic White and a GE 6500K Daylight, you will get a lot op pop and growth out of that.

I am putting up a 40 gal breeder i ame doing mosty sps and some chalies.i wont to know if i need 4 or 6 bulbs? And whst would be better tek or ati ?,tek and ati retro's are the same $ but ati fixturs are way more than tek am i going to get better light out of a fixtur or retro or do they do the same ? Tank is 36''long and 17'' tall and 18'' wide

With only 3 lamps I would buy well known brands so your corals will get enough light. Running 2 Blues and 1 50/50 type lamp would be good. Personally I would do 2 ATI Blue Plus and a KZ Fiji Purple, I think both brands are available down under but I could be wrong.

Yeah in the process of hunting some down but all the suppliers are always "out of stock" on the ATI's and never seem to answer my emails regarding when they will have more, only brands i can get a hold of are sylvania, GLO, geiseman, UVL, korallenzucht for the fiji purple only and Aquascience, I will purchase the KZ Fiji purple now for a replacement of the sun globe, any info on which of these brands i could use for the blue spectrum bulbs.

around 35% decrease in PAR, what are you doing now to cool the lamps.

using a 12 inch fan in the canopy no way to blow fans across teh length of the bulb because of the endcaps being so close together ( would block the air of any attempt)

Essentially the same question I was going to ask. 36x18x18 FOWLR tank, with the possibility of some corals later on. Thanks!

Weird question, but since I have never worked with T5 before I need to ask.
Where do you typically mount the T5 ballasts when retrofitting inside a canopy? Do they have long wires allowing for mounting inside the cabinet or are they short & thus require mounting inside the canopy? I'm clueless.
