3 ATI Blue Plus, 2 ATI Aquablue and a KZ Fiji Purple, KZ placed in the middle of the fixture with an Aquablue front and rear of that lamp.

So the bulbs should be placed from front to back in this order?
FRONT
Blue Plus
Aqua Blue
Fiji Purple
Aqua Blue
Blue Plus
Blue Plus

Will this make the tank very blue? I do not want a very blue looking Tank.

Grim

90 Gallon full sps tank

ATI sunpower 6 bulb

Current Configuration:
Front

ATI 12000k Aqua Blue Special
Blue +
GE 6500K
12000k UV Actinic White 50/50
Blue +
Blue +

Back

What i want to change:

1) Looking for more intense blue that doesnt look fake and still makes the tank bright.
2) Right now my green and brown algae pops the most with this lighting, when i have just the 2 Blue plus on for dusk it kinda masks tha algae.
3) i have some R2 Solutions Extreme Moonlights that really make my greens pop, i want a bulb that can bring them out too.

What bulbs should i change out? and what bulbs should i swap to get this look im looking for?

Here is a current not so great pic

Hey Grim,

Searching this thread is like no other :eek1:

Currently I am running this order over my 24g aquapod:

Actinic+
KZ purple
Actinic+
Aquablue

I love this color combo but Im afraid that the par level is not good for SPS. What would be your suggestion to achieve higher par but good color as I have now?

Thanks,
-Josh

Put a Blue Plus in place of the GE, if that doesn't do it then use one in place of the Aquablue too.

Using ATI lamps instead of Giesemann will help a little but you are already using very high PAR lamps. If you are worried about PAR you may need to look at changing fixtures.

As the k goes up i.e 12000K, 14000k do the bulbs get bluer or whiter?

Im just afraid of making the tank a dark blue.

What would adding a 14k bulb do?

Higher K is more blue but don't get hung up on it. You are mixing lamps to come up with a look much in the way a person would decide to buy a 12 or 15K halide.

Hey Grim

I'm so impressed with the ATI on my 40g breeder, I think I'm going to get one for my Solana as well.

I have a 150w Sunpod over my Solana currently with 4 RBTA and lots of LPS. Should I go with the 4 bulb ATI Sunpower or the 6?

Thanks!

Will probably go with a nice 20k look, so:

Blue Plus
Blue Plus
Actinic White
Fiji Purple
Blue Plus
Blue Plus

Sound good?

Look good. Don't know if you NEED 6 lamps but you will get better color with 6

thanks.

would my par be about the same with that new config. as with my old?

and do you think that would give a fake looking blue or more what im looking for?

thanks again
john

This will have very good PAR. Don't know what the old configuration was and I am not digging to find it, doesn't really matter. As far as the color I gave you my best recommendation of how to proceed.

Hey Grim,

Would this be a good combo for a 75 gallon sps setup?

aquablue
blue plus
fiji purple
blue plus
blue plus
aquablue

Would you go in this order and would this be close to 20k?

Using ATI lamps instead of Giesemann will help a little but you are already using very high PAR lamps. If you are worried about PAR you may need to look at changing fixtures.

Its not a fixture, its four retrofits. SLR's, two lamps on each ballast. Not Icecap ballast, just normal HO T5 ballast.

If you think that with this combo I could do SPS up to 8-10 inches under water......I will take your word for it.

Hey Grim, let me start by saying THANK YOU for all the advice you've given out. I just spent a couple hours reading through the posts and I sure it's in there somewhere but I can't find it. What would you recommend for a 125 gallon six foot tank? I have 2 Ice cap 660's with 6 (12 3 footers) ice cap slr's. What bulbs would you suggest? I have a mixed reef. thanks
