Helping a friend set up his tank. 72" long 24" deep 30" tall.

It is going to be a FOWLR so his lighting needs are not critical but he wants it to look nice and be upgradable in the future to add more lighting if he switches it to a reef.

What would you recommend for lighting? Thanks

Hit reefgeek. 60" LET T5 retrofit. 3 lamp setup with 2 ATI Blue Plus and a GE 6500K in the center of them. Just center them over the tank, 60" lamp covers 72 decent.

They when he wants a few softies add a 2nd 3 lamp set and if he really gets serious add another 2 for a total of 8 lamps.

What fixture and bulbs would you recommend for an sps and lps 40 gallon breeder? I do not want to spend the money for a power module.

Hi Grim,
Your dedication and advice on this board is absolutely appreciated.
I have a 6 gal pico with an 18" nova extreme fixture. The fixture takes 2 x 18" T5s. I'm looking to use two 18" UVL bulbs. I already have a 454 and I'm looking to pair it with another bulb to get a nice bluish light. How would these possible pairs work out, Indigo Sun/454, Actinic White/454, or, Aquasun/454?
Thanks,

Hey Grim

Im looking for the best front to back on a 6x54w PM on a full sps tank. I have lots of greens reds blues and pink corals in my tank.

Cheers
Ray

grim i have 6 bulb retrofit kit with the rear 4 bulbs being overdriven by an icecap 660 leaving the front 2 bulbs normally driven. i have it setup this way as my sps is mainly under the overdriven bulbs and my lps are in the front of the tank. in what order would you place 4 ati blueplus, 1 ati aquablue special, and 1 uvl super actinic for the best look?

Thanks grim! Ive had troubles finding the GE 6500k before tho is there another bulb that is simalar or more near 10k you would recommend? Also any thoughts on the Ati purple plus instead of the fiji purple? I love the fiji purple but am interested in the new ati purple.

Cheers

Use the ATI and instead of the GE the Giesemann Midday would work

Hey Grim,
I have a classic 75 (48hx18wx20h), what would be the best retro kit for it? Should I use the icecap 660's I have? tia

reefgeek is over $500 for the 4 bulb kit you are talking about... For that price right now he could get a 72" nova extreme pro 39x12 t5. Any reason not to go this way?

A couple reasons I can think of.

1) $25x12 is $300 a year in bulb replacement alone.

2) The 4 bulb LET will kill the output of the Current USA stuff.

I know he isn't too worried about PAR but when he upgrades to corals he will want the light.

6 lamp retro. Reefgeek will sell a Ice Cap retro minus ballasts for a good deal, just call and tell them you already have ballasts and they delete them from the kit.
