Looking for suggestions, evn though this is a T5 thread, I have both (VHO and T5) My current setup is as follows (not in order):

VHO's (72")
X2 - 160W UVL SuperActinics (100% blue spectrum peaks at 420nm)
X1 - 160W UVL AquaSun (10000K = 100% white spectrum)
X1 - 160W UVL 454 (454 "Ultra Blue" (85% TriBand Blue 15% 420nm Nichia Phosphor)

T5's (36" side by side, two row)

X4 - 39W ATI Blue Plus

I love the look that this combo gives, but I'm not sure that it gives me the growth for SPS (I also have some LPS)

Thinking of swapping for Two Aquasuns and Two 454's and then maybe changing out one row of T5 Blue Pluses for a row of KZ Fiji Purple or ATI Purple Plus, also the UVL 75/25 bulb is something I'm looking at.

Any suggestions?

Just wondering what a good tube order would be for my 210gal. I have a 8x80w ATI Power Module. The tubes I have to play with are:

2x Pro Color
2x Purple Plus
2x Actinic
6x Ati Blue Plus
4x Aqua Blue Special
I like a bluey pink look.

The Blue Plus have about the most PAR of any T5 lamp so I would stick with them. Maybe another 454 for a super actinic would help a bit.

Not as much as you might think but you could swap out a blue plus for another aquablue.

The 75/25 and Aquasun add all the red you need, don't mess with purple T5's.

Okay, so i just got my new bulbs in and I finally decided to try a pure actinic bulb again because I have not used one in years. It is the uvl super actinic and I am trying to find out if I got a dud or if it is supposed to be really dim. I thought I have seen them in action before and they were a nice deep blue/purple and not obviously dim. Any pictures of a uvl super actinic in action would help me know for sure. if it’s a dud I want to return it. So far i am not impressed, the other t5 bulbs look great.

More than likely not a dud. Actinics are extremely dim. I love the look of my tank when I used 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 KZ Fiji Purple and 1 Gmann Actinic but the tank was so dim it annoyed me.

I can stare at the actinics for hours and my eyes are fine. If I stare at the Aquablue of Fiji Purple bulbs, my eyes start to hurt.

yeah same thing here its nothing to stare at the actinic but if you look at any other bulb you go blind lol. I think i may just add another super blue or blue plus. It doesn't even pop the colors much more if at all then the kz super blue.

Yeah, 4 Blue Plus, 2 Aquablue and 2 Purple Plus ATI lamps. If you want a deeper blue swap one Aquablue for another Blue Plus

Just spread them out so you have a Aquablue and Purple front and rear of center.
