I have a 48" four bulb ho t5 fixture over my 55 gallon. Right now I am running 2 12,000k and 2 actinic bulbs made by odyssea. What would you recommend for both performance and looks? I don't want it to look really blue. I have a derasa clam on the sand bed, sps coral on the top of my rock and lps and softies on the lower rock.

2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and a ATI Purple Plus

Is ATI Aquablue Special the same thing as ATI Aquablue? I can't seem to find just plain aquablue all of them are aquablue special. Also, does it matter where I put the bulbs in the fixture? My light fixture has a built in timer, so I was thinking about putting the ATI blue plus bulbs in the back and the ATI Aquablue and Purple plus in the front, that way the blue lights will come on before the others. How would these bulbs compare to a Radium metal halide, would they be bluer or whiter?

alright grimm after hours of reading 3 asprin and couldnt find it, i have a3x2x22" half sps half zoa tank wth a powermodule 8 bulb 36" found a really good deal on uv bulbs and was thinking of going this route
UV 75.25 x 2
UV 454 x 5
UV Actinic White x 1
i do have a bunch of older and not so old bulbs ati blue plus, ge 65k , gies and so on, but about do for new bulbs, i had the icecap bulbs on another fixture and liked them ran basically same thing as what i am looking to get now, icecap t5 = uv bulbs so figured wouldnt be bad,
now my question is how much less is the par on these compared to the ati's the blue plus is almost same as the 454 a 20k bulb. and if not these what bulbs would you go. ty rick

454 has the same look as the ati blue plus but about 60 less par per bulb. The actinic white is very red looking but it has loads of par. Maybe try a mix of ati and uvl. Uvl doesnt really make a "white" bulb so the aqua blue might help in the mix.

I have 125 gallon, 72"x18"x22", and a 6-60" bulb ati fixture. I am looking to replace the bulbs for the first time and need some help. I want more of a blue look but also want to continue with my growth rate. How can I achieve this?

Thanks.

I am not saying ati is better but it does have more par then most others. I also really like kz and aqua science but since the ati bulbs are so cheap in the states i recommend them.

4 bulbs set up

ati blue plus
ati purple plus
ati aqua blue
ati blue plus

6 bulbs set up with more blue

Ati blue plus
ati blue plus
ati aqua blue

Grim - I have in my 24" AquaticLife fixture from (2) ATI Aquablue Specials, and (2) Blue Plus. The tank is mixed but I'd like to start keeping more SPS and I understand that they require high amounts of light. My issue is that I don't like they way the tank looks when all four bulbs are on. It's a bit too white/yellowish for my taste. Bulbs are 1 month old. Tank depth is approx. 15-16'. Any bulb recommendations you can make that will keep my SPS thriving but at the same time give me a bit more of a bluer look? I've tried sticking a KZ Fiji in it's place of one of the daylight bulbs but it did nothing for me.

I also get no polyp extension or tentacles from any of my corals when the lights are on even though i feed them in the day. It's only after dark when the lights are out and just the LED moonlights are on is when I see my tank come alive.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Same thing. I just don't type out the whole thing considering how many times I have to list them each day.

I'd put the blues at the front and make those the first on. Should be close to a radium.

The IC?UVL lamps don't have near the PAR the ATI's do but they look nice. The mix you have listed should look fine.

Add another Blue Plus in place of a Aquablue. As far as the extension if you are seeing the sweeper tentacles after lights out that is normal.
