Grim,

I'm getting the new ATI Sunpower 8x54 and putting it on my 63x22x24 (150 g) 90% SPS tank...and I have ALL the colors you can imagine with SPS.

Is 7.5v what you recommend to run the fans on?

Please give me the 8-bulb line-up for some eye-popping colors please.

Also, please give me an optional bulb to switch out and which one to switch it with to whiten things up if they are too blue.

Thanks a million!

Can anyone please provide some direction on this?

Grim,

I've got an ATI 6 bulb SunPower fixture and I'm currently running one Aquablue Special as a day bulb in the rear slot. I'm thinking of replacing it to make my LPS' pop more. Would you suggest this config and in this order?

Blue+

Purple+

Thanks!

Should be nice, very eerie deepwater look.

Hello Grim,

I know you recommend replacing the T5 at 1 year of life, is that based on an 8 or 12 hour daily usage?

8 hours/day x 365 days/yrs = 2920 service hours
12 hours/day x 365 days/yr = 4380 service hours.

Do you recommend replacing the actinics earlier?

Hey Grim,

Im having a hard time deciding which one of ATI Sunpower 8x54W or the Aqua Medic Ocean Light T5 8x54W. Do you have any idea on which one is the better and for what reasons?

What are the mounting options on Sunpower? I cant seem to find anything but the wire option.

Thanks!

Hey do you think for a standard 220 72x24x30 I could get away with a 8x80watt Sfiligoi fixture or would I need to step up to the 12x80watt Sfiligoi or 10x80watt Ati powermodule. I'd like to do a mixed reef.

There is also a 3x250watt metal halide fixture WITH 8x80 watt t5's. Is it worth paying more for that fixture, or will it be unnecessary having so much light. Thanks.

24x24x8 Frag tank setup and chose to go with a 4x24 T5 cheapo fixture (fishneedit) SPS Domninant, with some zoos and some LPS. Am I asking for trouble with bleaching with this and I woud like a solid bulb combo for growth as priority. All coral now is sitting under 3 400W Halides. Thanks Grim.

A year is just a good average. If your critters look like they aren't getting enough light change them earlier. Blue/actinics will loose PAR faster than daylights.

ATI for sure. Hanging is the only option for the ATI but you can make a mount to sit them on or create a hanging system that attaches to the stand pr wall and consists of pipes that run up behind the tank and curve over the top. Then you just hang the fixture from them

10 lamp ATI or the halide fixture would be my choice. On paper the Sfiligoi would work but based on my experience with their 6x54 stealth I am not sure I would depend on them to have enough PAR.

You need to have that fixture about 10" above the water to get enough spread to cover the whole tank so I don't think it's gonna be a concern. 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and a GE 6500K Daylight is what I'd use for lamps.

Wow, lots to read and lots to learn. Ok, here is my question.
I just received a 6x54 nep. It has the stock bulbs 3 12k 3 actinic (listed as 460nm 14k). It throws off a color close to what i want. I think I would like it a little more blue. Its over a 90g 48x18x24t. I would like to keep a mixed reef, including clams and sps. What do u think would be a good bulb combo for this? Are the stock bulbs any good? (the stock bulbs are "trulumens") And last but not least where is a good place to order bulbs from as my LFS carries only 1 brand.

Thanks for the great help that you provide here Grim, it is much appreciated.

I'd be careful about clams under that fixture in general. If' your gonna try replace all the lamps. Do 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and a ATI Purple Plus.

Not enough light for clams? If so, would adding 2 more bulbs work?. I think i have enough room to add another 2 bulb fixture.

And thank you for the bulb selection. I will get them ordered soon.

Adding 2 more isn't really going to help. I'd stick with low light clams or at least keep them up on the rocks part way

Grim,

Do you have any experience with the look of using T5's as supps to halides?

I have been using 2 ATI Blue plus ( 54 watt ) to supplement 14 K 175 watt Iwasaki's. I like the look but I am wanting to try one of the purple bulbs ( ATI purple plus or KZ Fiji purple ) to accent the pinks, reds, and purples etc.

With only two T5 supps do you think the one purple bulb would overpower the one blue plus bulb and give the tank a funny hue?? Would I be better off sticking with the two Blue plus with the halides.

Thanks,
Joe

Be worth a try. Purple look with just T5's on, hard to say with the halides going too
