grim, maybe the movers will "accidentally" break some of your bulbs, and force you to get some of the UVlighting bulbs:lol:

Hmmmm, Thats a thought.

I think I have a deal done for 2 new aquariums so maybe I can set one up for testing. We'll see.

Where can I find par ratings for T5 bulbs? Thanks in advance for the help

The GE daylights had the most, up around 1500 compared to like 1150 for an aquablue. Actinicplus/blueplus were around 1000 and the ATI sun was slightly higher.

I'm looking for a cheap T5 fixture for a planted 55g freshwater tank, that i'm fooling around with. Anyone have suggestions or links :) ? Also do most people just use 6500k bulbs and learn to like the yellow light? Thanks

See if you can find the Helios T5 lll Striplights. They have a pink lamp that is made for planted tanks. www.commodityaxis.com has the older version of the striplight. You could contact them through the website and see if they have the lll's in yet.

can i keep SPS with a 4x39 tek t5?

on the 40G?

yes..

i have 3x39 on my 35g reef, and i have no problems keeping any of the sps, and the clam i have.

I have a 4x39 tek light on my 40 gal breeder and although i'm happy with the light I STILL CAN'T DO sps they stay alive for the most part but dont really color up would like to upgrade (retro fit mine does anyone no what it would take and if it's worth it

I dont think your light setup is the problem for your SPS not doing so well. That much light in a 40 breeder should be more then enough.

I have a 125 gallon 72"long x 18"wide x 22" tall. I am looking to get a retro T5 set up. I want to keep a variety of corals. Will 320 watts (4x80)of T5's be good enough with the individual reflectors? Here is a pic of the reflectors on the kit. Not the TEK but still has individual reflectors which I have read is important and its only $339!

do you think it is worth for me to add individual reflectors to my nova fixture if my tank is only 12 inches deep and i have 4 bulbs running. i am keeping sps.

The t5 set up I mentioned is $339 and the one on reefgeek is $500. Thats a huge difference. Maybe I should go with MH. I think it may be cheaper to get three of them instead of a 72" t5 set up. I only want to spend $400 max.

You really don't need them in that shallow of a tank
