Just purchased a 48" 4 bulb Ice Cap retrofit from preiumaquatics.

Its for an 4' 80g tank.

Wondering about their bulb setup, I think is comes with UV white acitinics and super acitinics.

Should I have it changed? they said they also could substiture ATI?.

I like a white look, and I also plan on adding another 2 48" bulbs in a couple months. So I probably will be redoing it all then anyways and have a much different combination.

But for the time being, when it comes to how they package it. Does it seem like a bad setup in bulbs?

well, the act white uvl bulbs are pink, and the super actinics are blue ish purple. i would have them substitute the act whites for ati aquablues

ok so Im shopping for my bulbs online and wanted to check some things out... URI and UVL are the same correct??? And I found an ATI Sunlight Daylight bulb that is 6K, is this the same as the Sun Pro or is it a different bulb all together?

Also do you think that 6 bulbs will be to much over a 40breeder 36x18x17 for lps sps clams and softies? Or should I got with 4 or 5 bulbs?

Grim or Horkn.... would you guys list the order of bulbs that you would recommend? from front to back.

Thanks for the response Grim. The only reason I'd like to start the light cycle at 7:00 AM instead of 10:00 AM is the tank will be right behind my desk and I want the cycle to be on when I'm in my office all day. Your help with things like this is outstanding.

Make sure they are ATI and not D&D/Giesemann lamps. If the are ATI Blue Plus add one of them in place of a UVL actinic and add a ATI Sun Pro in place of a UVL Actinic white so you end up with a Blue Plus, Aquablue, Actinic White and Super Actinic.

how bad off are these bulbs?
4bulb

2 ati aquablue specials
1 actinic
1 day light 10k

should i use the ones listed in the above post?

If I get the 3x80 icecap t5 from reefgeek can I separate the bulbs? they come w/ individual reflectors but is the whole unit attached? Per Grim reefer's recomendation I would like to put 2 in front of my mh's and 1 behind.

or do I have to purchase 3 separate individual t5's?

The components in the retrofit kit are all individual

thanks that was quick. I guess i will get the 3x80 kit. what bulbs would you recomend? I have 3x250 10k Ushio's w/ icecap ballasts.

i also am thinking of getting a set of 3x80 t5 set. What bulbs do you recommend? what order should i put them in?
it will be installed in a 135 gal, 72" long tank. Tank is mostly fish with live rock, but would like to get some low light corals.

I just got my 6 bulb tek hood and man is it bright. I'm gonna have to wear sunglasses when i'm hanging and adjusting this thing.

To confirm what Grim said earlier, on the 6 bulb units the front and back bulb are on one ballast and the middle four on another.

I'm still working out the arrangement of bulbs, but once I get it dialed in I will take some before(4/65w PC) and after(Tek 6 bulb t-5) pics of my tank.

There is a 2 to 4 week back order on the ATI bulbs just to let you guys know. Had to go with different bulbs.

So are URI and UVL are the same? And I found an ATI Sunlight Daylight bulb that is 6K, is this the same as the Sun Pro or is it a different bulb all together?
And will 6 39w be to much over a 40 breeder, should I go with 4 or 5 bulbs instead?
