Grim: guess I'll ask you to weigh in on mine, too: is a 36" 4 bulb Teklight good enough for LPS/softies over a 65g (36x18x24)?

ooh, and I called it on the split! woohoo! (ok, I admit it, that's a dorky thing to brag about)

2nd split and the thread starter hasn't been around since like the first page.

what the hell happened there , thread got spilt again , amazing got lost there for a second , back to my question tried ocean encounters for the T5 80 watt don't seem to have them any other suggestions

PS Dam quick reply by the way

checked out reef geek they do have 4 6o inch retro T5S 80 watt for about $ 500 is this a good price with limited knowledge I' d hate to pay more than I should

PS again thanks for quick response

If you only want softies and LPS go with a reefgeek4x54 watt Tek T5 but upgrade to the Ice Cap reflectors for like 5 bux each. At 24" tall you really dont need to overdrive for softies and LPS..

any performance difference between the retro kits and the non-retro sets?
I am looking to buy the Tek sunlight 4x54 kit for my 135 gal tank (6' long). The problem is that I have a 14" tall canopy, so I was thinking of getting the non retro kit so that I can hang the light from my canopy. But I was thinking I should get the retro kit so that I can stager the lights so that I can fill the 6 ft tank with the 4 ft lights. The tank will be FOWLR, but will want to have some low light corals in the future.
thanks for your inputs.

You really want to go with like a 4x80 retro. those lamps are 60" long so you will end up with pretty even light. reefgeek has those.

Ive got a 55 gallon zoa/minimal sps frag tank set up, and currently I am running one ge t5 and one old vho actinic on an icecap 430. It is a bit green, but the reds are really deep, so i want to keep the ge, for growth and I am changing the vho out for a t5 and I plan to add at least one more t5. I will be getting icecap reflectors and some aquablues and blue plus'. i have a workhorse ballast which can fire 2 4' bulbs, but i think i might be allright with just one more.

Should I overdrive the ge, or just run that on the workhorse and overdrive the other bulbs?

Would two overdriven bluepluses and a normally driven ge be enough light for a 55 or should i go with one aquablue and one blueplus.

Should I get another reflector and endcaps and run a second on the workhorse? If so what bulbs normally driven.

thanks

For a frag tank I would run 2 GE t5's on the 430. You want growth. If you want to bring out the color get a NO actinic.

question to all would 4 80 watt 60 inch t5 + two 72 inch 110 watt vho attanic be considered too much light for mushrooms but good for corals or would the mushrooms be ok on the sand bed with the corals up top .
Also would this be overkill on the lighting is so any suggestions purchasing the lighting any day now probably from reef geek thanks ahead of time
