. That wasnt my question though. I figured since both the aquablues are being overdriven, it may be okay to remove the reflectors off just those two bulbs and still have plenty of PAR.

If ya can afford more lamps go for it. With 6 lamps you can do a sun, aquablue, bluepluses and actinics. Mix things up to get a wide spectrum and nice look.

Plenty.
Fire the metal halides with the luminarc first and see how the light is broadcast. I use them and I was very supprised on the coverage. then work T-5 around the coverage. As for 72" they where just released by Helios. Posted earlier purchased bulbs for 20.00 fixture was about 100.00. Not yet in mail order thought.

Would they work, is this a good deal? Can get it with 6400k bulbs. I wonder if the bulbs that come with it will work on a SW tank

Upon further review that unit does apear to have individual reflectors. Look at the picture that has Mirrored Surface on it. It looks sorta like the Aqualux reflector Horkn.
I think it might be worth a shot. I would actually try one of their 3000K "Bloom" lamps with a UVL Super Actinic and 2 ATI Blueplus lamps.
There is a thread in the SPS forum "My 55 gallon tank and corals lightening" in which Mothra posts some pics of his stuff using the 3000K lamp. Really makes the pink pop in a Millipora coral.

I was thinking about the lights, maybe I'll see what the lights it comes with will do. If need be they can always be swapped out. Anyone every tried Hydroponic lighting?

Take a look at the difference between the combination of a Blue Plus and a GE 6500K (labeled S) and the 3000K and blueplus. Hard to tell from a picture but it sure looks a lot nicer to me.

they don't like the endcaps on the unit from HTG Supply. I think I can modify it, any ideas?

What about the spectral analysis of the 3000k? Isnt there going to be some harmfull UV in there? It would make sense for a pink coral as there's been reference to that pigment as a natural sunscreen so to speak. But Ive also heard alot of negatives about certain ranges of nanometers being more harmfull if overexposed. Sorry recalling from memory, no resources to back it up

If I wanted to take my 29gallon from 3x95w vho (9month old bulbs) to 4x39w t5 what steps would I need to take to ensure I don't burn the corals with the light change...
I was thinking of starting with 2 of the bulbs and these really cheap tin reflectors I fashioned. then after a week add anther with a homemade reflector, then another week then add the nlast bulb...Then after a couple of weeks start changing my homemade reflectors out for the icecap reflectors...Is this process neccessary. My wife says yes, I say just light it up with all 4 and take the light period down from the 12hrs a day they get now to 6-8 hours and bump it up daily till its back right....
