Where do you think you are now as far as light color?

If you need to Whiten things up try a D&D/Geisemann Midday and a ATI Aquablue. That would make things look more white but still have a noticable blue hue. Adding 2 middays would make your overall look very white.

I changed my tank from a 40breeder to a custom arcylic before it was set up- so I have no idea what color it is yet. I'll probably get the D&D Geisemann Midday and ATI Aquablue. So my next question- how would you arrange it? This is what I was considering- With 3 ballast I'd hate to commit to wiring and then have to change it to get a better color. Since I'll have 3 ballast I want to try 3 stage lighting.

Super Actinic - - dawn/dusk - - ballast 1
Blue Plus - - dawn/dusk - - ballast 1
Midday - - mid morning/eve - - ballast 2
10k AquaSun - - afternoon - - ballast 3
Aquablue - - mid morning/eve - - ballast 2
Blueplus - - afternoon - - ballast 3

I am looking at the SunLight Tek Light T5 Hood with 8x54W T5's, for my 120Gal 48x24x24 Reef Tank, I used to use MH on my last setup but the heat they generated and my elctric bill where a bit high, are the T5's more efficient than a MH/T5 combo settup. Is this T5 setup enough light for any coral, and if it is, what combo sun/actinic should I go with, I was thinking 3 actinics and 5 Sun, is that ok, are there better combos for the 8x54W setup, thanks again.

That looks like a plan. If you keep the ballasts close together and leave a little slack in the wires it is pretty simple to change things around.

If you like halides take a look at Iwasaki 15K 175 watt SE lamps mounted in Lumen Max reflectors driven by Ice Cap ballasts. That will EASILY allow you to grow anything.

The 8x54 T5's would be enough
I would do this for lamps

Front
UVL Super Actinic
ATI Blue Plus
D&D/Geisemann Midday
ATI Aquablue
UVL Aquasun
UVL Actinic White
ATI BLue Plus
UVL Super Actinic

That is going to oooze with PAR and have a broad spectrum of light. That will at least be a good place to start

I will go with the T5's, now where can I get all those different types of bulbs "is that a good idea, all those different bulb manufacturers", I see alot of UVL's on your list, they are that good, I don't want to be buying from 5 different E-tailers, by the way I like your avatar.

hey grim I know this is off topic but where do you guys find these avatars and how do you copy them to your profile.

In the used control panel section are the controls to do avitars. It will tell you the file size you can use.

quick question, I currently have 4x54 tek retro with ice cap reflectors. My bulb combination is 1 uvl super actinic, 1 uvl aquasun, and 2 ati blue+. Now ive played around with bulb combinations and it looks a little too much on the blue side. I was thinking of maybe ordering an ati aquablue special to replace one of the blue+ bulbs. I was wondering if u have seen the aquablues and if they are really blue or not. I dont want to add another aquasun since they have a pinkish cast to it and I like the tank being a little blue but not this much. what do u think?

duh,er a huh, drool. You'll have to excuse my stupidity here but just where is the used control panel section. You mean on this site? I'm pretty computer illiterate. I did look though, just didn't see a control panel section.

Hey Grim,

Quick question once again, Ive decided to go with the 400w radium in a lumenarc for my upcoming cube project, but will T5 supplemental lighting be of any benefit with this light combo?

Do you know of anyone who does supplement radium with actinic?

Thanks
Craig

Grim, thanks again for the tip.

For everyone else, seems like a good deal on the moisture-proof endcaps, they include the stand-offs in the price too!

---
The T-5 moisture proof end caps is 9.99 a pair with base mount. Item # 26139

Thank you.

Tim

Endcap options

Helios make a hard rubber endcap that is moisture resistant. They push on the ends and are easily going to prevent as much moisture as the stucci's.

www.commodityaxis.com is the company's website. You can e-mail them about the endcaps (they aren't listed on the website) through the "contact us" tab.

Sorry, go to "My RC" (at the top of the page) and edit options, at the bottom of that page there is the Avitar stuff

mine is pic of me and my Gf heading back to the trailer park after a shopping spree at walmart. Apparently you cant take the shopping carts home, or you get caught on chopper 4's camera.

The ATI Aquablue is white with a blue hue to it. To me the Geisemann Aquablue looks a little more white. There is also a UVL Actinic White that is also a 50/50 lamp that looks a tad pink too. I would maybe try one of the Aquablues in your case, If you are looking for a little whitter color either will do what you want. DON"T TRY ANOTHER AQUASUN, that would probably not be a good loos with a blueplus and SA.
