Horkn,

did the shopping cart ever get back to Walmart?

rev

nope, I went down a street with a lot of tall trees that blocked the cameras from the helicopter, and we got away.

I then was able to hide it under my trailer home.

I might use it for my baby stroller.

LOL:lol:

Are acrylic shields or tempered glass recommended for use with a T5 retrofit system? I don't have one currently but won't to make sure I have everything taken care of when I do upgrade. I was just planning on mounting it in my existing canopy & plugging it in.

OK Grim, I got all ot the components to do my T-5 Halide Retro. You said before that you would not mount the T-5 using the individual reflector in my case since I am using the PFO parallel reflector for the halide setup. I have everything in front of me and notice a absolutely huge differance between the reclective quality of the PFO over the Tek reflector. I actually think I can get 2 T-5's on each of the PFO wings if I stagger the end caps. Do you think there is a disadvantage or waste if I do something like that?

Grim,
I have a 38 gallon All-glass that is 36x12x19. I am looking at either the tek5 or the Nova.,both 4x39 Will the individual reflectors in the Tek5 be worth all of the extra money or do you think the Nova would be sufficient. My plans would be to keep a mix of zoo's softies, and LPS and possibly a clam in the future, but I am not sure if the clam will happen in this tank.

Also, if I get the Nova, I have the room for a possible 175/150 MH or 2 for shimmer and supplement. With the tek5, this will not be possible with my setup.

Thanks for your help.

I've learned that if you having trouble fitting lights to your current tank, scapping it all together and upgrading to bigger tank opens up a world more of options.

I don't remember what combo of lamps you are using but I would mount the lower powered T5's (Blue Plus or Atinic) in the PFO reflector so the light will blend better with the halides and the stronger lamp (Blue Plus, Aquablue or Days) in th Tek reflector. Don't underestimate what the funky little reflector can do for you.

The Tek is worth the money. If you plan a halide I would use a canopy and use retros. 4 Tek retros with a good halide would be good.

Grimm, what do you think of this light setup for my 120G 48x24x24 Reef Tank, is this light good for any type of Coral, don't want the light to hold me back down the road of reef keeping, the Sun Light Tek Light 54WX8 T5's, bulb combination is as follows: All Gieseman.

4 Midday 6000k
2 Pure Actinic
2 Aquablue Plus 11K 60/40

will this be enough light for my tank, and how bright will it be, I don't want it to be too blue, but just enough, I like it mostly towards the white side with a hint of blue, something similar to a 10,000K HQI with Actinics PC's"wich was my old PFO setup, since sold", or should I just go with the Sun Light Maritek 2x250W HQI Ushios and 2x54W T5's ATI True Actinics, thanks.

Hello, I am looking to upgrade to t5's soon. I have a 40g tank that has a 36 x 15 inch foot print. Should I do the 4 x 39 tek fixture or the 6 x 39 fixture? Right now its a mixed tank. I ahve a few softies, a few zoas, a bunch of lps and a few sps. Will the 6 lamp fixture be too much light for them? Is there any heat issues with the 6 lamp vs the 4 lamp?

Currently I am running a 192w PC fixture and its nearring the time to change bulbs. My growth has been slow with this, and I want to upgrade to better lights. I have realised my errors in my initial light purchase and want to get soemthing thats not a POS.

Thanks,
Jesse

Well the Nova doesn't compare to the Tek. If you are going to run T5's and a halide I would run a couple of Tek retros with the halide.

Grim, you had recommended this to me, "If you used one ATI Sun Pro, 2 ATI Blue Plus and 1 UVL Super Actinic you would have enough PAR for the Croceas with a pretty blue look and good fluorescence." (this was for a 20L)

I may end up with a 4x24 watt tek fixture that has two options:

Option 1: Two Giesemann Aquablues, and two Blue Pluses

OR
I could throw an ATI Pure Actinic in there and go with option two.

Option 2: Two Giesemann Aquablues, a blue plus, and an ATI Pure Actinic.

Are either of these options close to your suggestion and if so, which one is closest? I believe that Option 1 would provide a little more PAR than your suggestion, but I do prefer a bluer look as opposed to the whiter look. I dont know if option 2 would be TOO blue though.

Thanks for any help you can offer with this.

Jesse

I'd go with 2. You will still have plenty of PAR and that pure actinic lamps will pop greens for you.

Man you are quick! Thanks a lot... that's the one I was leaning towards!

oh man, i think this ones run it's course:p

but it was good for a laugh at least:D
