Might look a little yellow. I'd do 2 middays and 3 actinic plus with the others you listed.
thanks Grim, will try that.

Thanks Grim
hmm..yea gonna take a trip to home depot for the clamp, how else is everyone holding the hood, with the brackets?

Hey Grim.

I will be getting my 4x24 Tek retro this friday and i think I am going to run (2)ATI Aquablue Specials, (1) ATI Blue+, and (1) UVL Super Actinic.

My question is will I need to acclimate from my 150 watt 14,000k Phoenix, or can I go straight to running the 4x24 watters?

Secondly, what do you think about the lamp choice?

Thanks yet again.

Jesse

I might cut back on the light time a little at first. I would swap one of the Aquablues for a UVL Actinic White.

Hello Grim!

I was hoping you could add your input in regard to running T5's with out individual reflectors over mixed reefs stocked mostly with LPS, Clams and softies.

Here is a link to my thread:

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks

I know this is somewhere in this massive thread, but couldn't find it (perhaps a FAQ or Table of Contents would be helpful?) :)

120g (4x2x2), mixed reef, clams in rock: 6 Light Tek retro kit or 8 lights? Thanks!

Just curious, what would switching the Aquablue for the Actinic White do? I much prefer a blue look to the white look, but still want to be able to offer enough PAR for my clams in a 12"T 20L.

Get some blacklight posters for a tank background.

OHHH!, I just kill me:D

WHat kind of corals do you have? The pure actinics are nice when used with Actinic plus but on their own they don't do much except for green colored corals.

I'd probably get a couple actinic plus or better yet ATI Blue Plus if you can find them.

Hey Grim
I have a Gman Infiniti fixture coming Friday w/ 250 DE megachrome 14.5k and pair of ATI Blue+ and a pair of Gman Actinic+. Is this a good combo, without switching out the DE bulb any recommendations????

Lose the Geisemanns, they are about the same color as the ATI with less output. I would add some UVL Super Actinics or ATI or Geiseman actinics (G-manns are called Pure Actinic)

Actinic Plus and Blue Plus= 450nm blue lamp with strong visible blue light and fluoresce corals pretty good.

Pure Actinic and Blue Actinic= 420nm which is more Violet. They tend to pop greens but not much else.

UVL Super Actinic seems to be a little more like a 430nm or so color, kinda between the 2 above. I still like them best combined with Blue Plus lamps.

Which ones would you take out to replace the actinic plus with?

Pure Actinics. Just hold on to those and you will have them for your relamp.

So I would have to switch out the 4 actinic pure for 4 actinic plus?

Show-off.

I'm running -

2xATI B+
1xURI SA
1xATI Aquablue

The combo is superb, its slightly bluer than the Giesemann 14.5K Coral (my favorite bulb). In fact I'm only running my MH 4 hours/day and my SPS colors are superb. All my other corals from micros to chalices to zoos are doing extremely well also. Nice part about running 4xT5 is you have the choice of running a very white MH bulb and running 4 blue"r" bulbs for excellent growth, or you can run your MH much less if you match your T5 combo to the bulb. That allows you to keep great color on non-SPS.

You lucky dog. I've eliminated Sfiligoi and now am down to Giesemann or Elos.

LOL
thanks Fliger
you get my email
I thought about the aquablue but I was afraid that it would be to white, But to run only one hmmm. I'll look into it.
