6 bulb setup 60in.

You mentioned staying with ati bulbs, 2 ab, 1 day,2 b+, what would the 6th bulb be? It will be over a 180, 4 bulbs overdriven with icecap ballast and 2 with workhorse.
Thanks
Jeff

12 lamp configuration

Grim,

What bulbs would you suggest for a 12 lamp SPS configuration all OD with IC 660's. The lamps will all be 60 " 80 watt lamps in SLR's and the tank is 24" deep

Found source for a 6x24 T5 Aquamedic

Found source for a 6x24 T5 Aquamedic

http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=974

comes with AquaMedic T5 Lamps:
- 3 x T5 24W Ocean White Lamps
- 3 x T5 24W Ocean Blue Lamps

I don't think it has individual reflectors like the Tek but I can only find 4 bulb Tek. Any thoughts on which would be a better upgrade for a 54g corner, (currently I have a 24" 2x65 PC). Cost is non issue between these I'd rather get the most PAR.

Also, neither T5 fixture has a fan I guess?

Other T5 suggestions for a 24" fixture?

4x24w bulb choices

4x24w bulb choices

I'm in the process of switching from a 150W HQI 14K Phoenix to a 4x24W T5HO retrofit kit from reefgeek. I already have 2x24w that was given to me as a present that came with an ATI aquablue and an ATI blue plus. What do you recommend for the other 2 bulbs that I will be ordering soon? I'm looking for high PAR ratings and a color similiar to the bluish tint the 14K phoenix gives off.

Thanks!

Hey Grim. Hope you had a good holiday season.
My 180 has been up and running for a couple of months now and I'm a bit disappointed in the T5 setup. The colors are blah..washed out looking. The 90G looked better.

What I'm running is

Front
1 ATI B+
2 ATI AB
3 DD Pure Actinic 03
4 DD Day 6000K
5 ATI AB
6 ATI B+
Rear

60" bulbs centered on IC 660 ballasts, and IC SLR reflectors. The 3 blue bulbs are on one ballast, the 3 white bulbs on the other. I'd rather not rewire them. I swapped position of 1 and 3 and it didn't really make a difference. It seems like the overdriven lamps are brighter than what I had on the 90G. Maybe just too much light. I have a spare ATI B+ and may try it in place of one of the AB. The DD Pure Actinic is...eh..there...nothing special. I thought about swapping it for a VHO Actinic or a pair of 36" UVL SA's. Thoughts? I'm going to try swapping out the DD PA for an B+ tonight and see how it looks tomorrow.

Any suggestions to get more color/pop out of the setup?

See if reefgeek can get you a GE 3000K in 80 watt. Try swapping it in place of an Aquablue or the middday.
Replacing the DD Pure Actinic with an ATI Blue Plus made a nice difference. Not as washed out looking and colors pop better. That DD PA is not good for much of anything. Maybe if there were a couple of them in conjunction with what I have now, they might be ok.

I got the DD 6000K because I heard the GE 6500K is not what it used to be. Is it still better than the DD bulb? I'll talk to Greg about it and the 3000K.

If you ar going to have 4 lamps total I would go with the 2 lamps you have now plus a GE daylight 6500K and another Blue Plus.

I would do a UVL Aquasun, Super actinic, ATI Aquablue and 2 Blue Plus.

hi grim i got another question for you.
i am confused between the two companies aquatinics and aquactinics. everyone seems to say aquatinics makes great T-5 set ups but i found this awesome set up for a great price for aquactinics, and it is the only 72" T-5 hood that i have been able to find.
what do you think about it?

Aquactinics T5 HO 72" Fixture

What's Included:

* Fixture can hold up to fourteen (14) 39W T5 lamps ( 7 rows total ). 3 rows are on one switch/power plug, 2 rows are on one switch/power plug and another 2 rows are on another switch/power plug. T5 lamps are not included.

* Dual (Dual ball bearing) fans.

* High polish full length individual aluminum reflectors.

* Individual illuminated switches.

* (3) 6ft power cords.

* Protected splash shield.

* 1 year warranty on parts and labor for fixture. 2 year warranty on ballasts.

Aquatinics is us. Everyone just keeps mispelling our company name by leaving the "c" out. The correct spelling is Aquactinics. We are one and the same.

Thank you,

Tom
Aquactinics

thanks tom i will be purchasing that 72" soon as it is quite the badass fixture!

but there is an aquatinics.com site which makes things confising.

AquaPython,

Since I saw people mispelling of the name we purchased both domain names and the aquatinics.com address redirects you to the correct address.

Aquactinics

Grim,

I ordered 3 of the 80 watt 3k's from Greg at Reef Geek today. I liked the look I saw on a blog of the 3K with the B+ bulbs from ATI.

I read something about using the warmer color temps to stimulate the pigments in the corals on there. Could you elaborate on this?

I plan on using at least 2 of the 3k's in conjunction with the 6000k sun lamps and the ATI B+ and Actinics in the 12 lamp configuration.

I am going to use the Ice Caps to drive these bulbs. With setting up the fans should I top mount them over the reflectors and pull air up through the reflectors or blow it across?

I am going to attach the new T5 racks to this rack.
