Hey Grim,

Could you explain PAR and PPFD to me? I show you use PAR for measuring T5 bulbs ex. ATI B+=311

Sanjay uses PPFD for halides ex. Iwasaki 15k=71

How do you convert PPFD to PAR? or are they the same?

Hey Grim/others, I'm running 8x54 watt T5s, could you send me a PM about what bulb combo i should go with? Thanks

Depends on what you are trying to grow, what equipment you are running and the dimensions of the tank.

We are measuring the same thing it is just the method that is different. Sanjay is not using reflectors and is just mounting the lamp in a sealed box. I am measuring in a functional reef tank.

PPFD is measuring the PAR over a given area by taking numerous readings and reporting the total. That is really helpfull as far as knowing how a reflector desperses light but you need a fixture to do that. I just take a single reading.

I need your help

This are the lamps I can get from local market or internet (Europe) what combination should I choose of them for a four t5 fixture placed at the back of the tank and pc fixture with 50-50 (10000k+blue) at the front.

AquaLight T5 10.000 K
AquaLight T5 6.500 K
AquaLight T coral blue
Arcadia Marine Blue Actinic T5
Arcadia Marine White T5
Narva blue - T5
Osram Lumilux Plus - T5
Narva 076 Nature superb
*NEU* CORAL LIGHT Fiji Purple T5 Röhre - 24W
*NEU* Korallenzucht CORAL LIGHT T5 - 24W
Aqua Medic Ocean White T5
Aqua Medic Ocean Blue T5
Aqua-Connect High Performance 15000 Kelvin
Aqua-Connect T5 Bio-Light Vollspektrum
Aqua-Connect T5 BLUE
T5 AQUA Science Special 15.000 K 24 Watt
T5 Leuchtofflampe - OSRAM daylight
also jbl lamps and sylvania

thx

Okay, probably a dumb question. So two each of the bulbs listed in that order? Since there will be 4 bulbs per 660. Then would you have the front coming on first and going off last? I was thinking of alternating the bulbs front to back on each ballast to distribute some of the heat on the bulbs.

Thanks

I am not familiar with a lot of those. I think this could be nice but I would try posting on some european sites to get opinions of peole who have seen all of them. The Narva Blue is the Geisemann Actinic Plus. I have seen the output plot for the AS 15000K and I think it is more of a daylight than 15K but it looks promising.

So if Sanjay does not use reflectors and the PPFD is 71. If I have reflectors in my setup the PPFD will be higher?

I guess it will be a while before t-6 vho are tested thourghly. i heard the 48" 110 watt lamp are about double the par of the HO 54 t-5.

hit reefgeek.com and get some good lamps. Use 2 GE daylight 6500K's, 1 ATI Aquablue, 2 Blue Pluses and 1 UVL Super Actinic. You think you have growth now:D

Hey Grim! Me again! :D

I do not see any blue pluses on the website. There are some 11000 k aquablue pluses from Geisemann. Are these the same thing?

Thanks again!

Actinic Plus would be about the same as Blue Plus.

GREAT LINK!

The VHO T6 is not quite double the output of a T5 but it is in the neighborhood.
