Grimm great info. I have another question

I am looking for a light for a 75 FOWLR that I eventually want to add Soft corals, no hard corals...what T5 fixture and lighting do you suggest.

I have clownfish and want to add an anenome to start but other soft later.

Thanks for any suggestions.

At least 4 lamps, 6 would be better.

Hi, do you have an opinion on the new retrofit kit or fixture "Glo" T5 HO from Hagen?

Never seems them

What about the Aquactinic 5 light?

What configuration would you suggest with that light?

Or should I do Tek Special Edition?

Thanks again!

Ok, Thanks. I didn't find any info on the web yet but I've seen them in stores.

Ok, I've been reading thru way to much of this thread but still cant find the answer.

I'll be running T5 ballasts overdriving 54W bulbs with 2x54W ballasts. Can I run T5HO bulbs with these? I'm sure I can, but would it be more efficient to run standard T5's?

I read something about running 3 11000K, 2 25000K, and 1 6500K
Anybody run this? They say it runs at the peak of each spectrum and gives a slight blue a little more subtle than acintics, but a bit more natural whit light.

I would go with the Aquactinics.

Try

Front
Blue Plus
Super Actinic
Aquasun
Blue Plus
Aquablue

I know it's probably buried in here somewhere, but does any one know how many watts a 660 will run 39w bulbs at?

60ish

??? How are you going to overdrive using T5 ballasts

I'm looking to run t5s on my 260 however I'm concerned about the depth of my tank being too much to run nothing but t5s.
My setup is 84l, 24w and 27 depth (depth is from water line to sand) I'm currently running 4x48" TRU 10,000k bulbs driven by an icecap 660 and DIY reflectors made from diamond plated hanging shoplights.... Should I go all t5s or keep 2 250w halides? My goal is to eventually be able to keep anything I want..

If you want to run only T5's get good lamps and reflectors.

What constitutes "good" lamps?
I bought the TRUs from hellolights... Is there a better brand and retailer. (I actually like the color of the TRU so, if it gets better than that.... I'm definately interested.....:)

ATI hs the best output for the most part. Giesemanns are pretty good too and so are UVL.If the Tru lamps cost less than 15 bux I seriously doubt they are going to have the same output as the better lamp, you get what you pay for.

t5 ive made the switch now lets see
ok after searching and searching i need to know this....

what bulb combo gets what color and growth. i went with a 48" 8 bulb setup with slr reflectors and now am choosing bulbs. i want to know what buld combo gives what color in tank. so please post bulb combo and where you got them for what price and a pic of your tank. TIA.

Hey Grim, I have an extra KZ Coralight and and extra KZ Coralilght Fiji if you want to test them (they have about 4-5 months of use on them so broken in nicely), I even have an extra shipping tube from some UVL SA's I just got from RG. PM me if you have time/desire to test them and I'll fire them over.

I personally really love the KZ Coralight, replaced my ATI AquaBlue's with them. My pink milli literally glows under them, I can't say enough for the spectrum they put out.

Also have you noticed that if you have to much blue in your bulb choice, the colors sortof get that bland effect ala phoenix 14k? It's wierd I moved from
KzF, Kz, Kz, Kz, Kz, KzF to
B+,Kz,KzF,Kz,KzF,SA and bam suddenly got that bland look so had so switch it around to
B+, Kz, Kz, KzF, Kz, SA (taking out one Fiji which is a blue/purple bulb) to get that bright, popping look back.

I second that on the KZ Corallights. T
They really pop the reds/ pinks/oranges/yellows.

I can't wait to try a Hagen Power Glo now that they are available as T5s. They have a spectrum similar to the KZs.

I am currently using the aquascience 15k bulbs and the colors do not seem to pop and are not as nice as the ATi aquablue bulbs. I might just have to give the KZ bulbs a try. Anyone else out there using the Aquascience bulbs?
