Hello Grim
Any comments on the Solaris Led 20k unit ?
Would Actinic supplementation still be necessary.
For the $ I would think that it does it all.

Thanks for a reply

:smokin:

For the $$$ they should light the tank, feed the dog and put out the cat.

I really don't know much about them other than the PAR is exagerated. I Think practical experiences of people using them will be the best judge.

Grim,

I was at a LFS and they had Hagen's Life-Glo HO T5 on sale (6700K) how does this compare to the DD powerchrome Midday? What is the par on this bulb? Is it a good alternative to the midday?

Hey Grim, would the tek 4x54put out enough lighting for a clam and possibly some sps ? 55gl. 48Lx12Wx17H ? height is from top of sand to top of the tank. Thanks in advance.

Dunno, never used one. If its cheap it's likely not in the same class.

Grim,

I ordered 6 bulbs from reefgeek, and I try using 14000 K Aquablue UVL, Give it try. I don't know what is par meter but experimental it.

I use # 1 method, not # 2 with 65000 k

I looked at the picture that you posted that Fiji look good, however I still go for blue plus instead of fiji.

cheap the cost for total 6 intead of all 6 KZ and they are impossible to have stock well. why wait, get ATI and UVL.

Hey Grim ages ago you said to me:

Currently 2 x ATI 54W 11000K Aquablue Special & 2 xATI 54W Actinic/Blue Plus on a IC660, any thoughts?

Add a UVL super actinic and a Aquasun and see what you think. I would throw the Aquasun on the Ice Cap in place of the a blue plus and use the blue plus and super actinic as dusk/dawn.

For various reasons i'm just getting around to this...still stick with the same bulb combo?
Thanks

Andy

I would say yes.

Sorry

Yes, it would be plenty. Look at the Aquactinics Tx5 too. Aquarium specialty from the sponsor page has them.

Anyone have any experience with the Aquamedic OceanLight T5 Setups, esp. the 36" model?? Available thru AquaCave.. They are a 6 bulb setup and the price seems right...

Hi Grim

Was thinking :

Front
Blue plus
Super actinic (Sfiligoi)
Aqua Sun 3000K GE
Blue plus
Daylight GE 6500K
Blue plus
Aquablue 14000 k UV
Super actinic (Sfiligoi)

I'm looking for a 14000k color, will I acheive this with the bulb mix?
Thanks in advance

That should get you in the ballpark. I wouldn't use an actinic in the rear slot. Move it forward so the majority of its light hits the viewing side of your corals.

I currently run 4 x 250w DE MH and 4x54w T5s on my tank and am thinking of switching to 1080 watts of T5s (20x54w).

One of my main concerns is: should I expect to see significantly less heat being given off into the room that tank is in? will this also put significantly less heat into the tank?

With my new setup I have never been really happy with halides. Call me old fashioned, I still prefer fluorescents over the "spotlight" and heat of halides...

Thanks!

Thanks again Grim. I am using Icecap electronic hqi ballasts currently. I have two of the 10x54 powermodules on order, can't wait to try 'em out if they ever arrive! :)
