would an ATI powermodule blow an aquactinics tx5 completely out of the water? and or be too much for softies in a 21" tank? or even an 18" tank?

TX5 is more than enough for a 21" tall tank if you want to have softies.

but question is. would the Powermodule be too much? ie whats teh difference in par between the ati 36"6 bulb and the tx5 5 bulb? or would the ati be overkill? esp if i want to have a mixed reef. pros and cones of each if possible?

thanks!

Grim what do you know about the Coral Vue and AquaZ lamps?? Any good?

No, not really. The 4 lamp Powermodule will have a little more output. The Aquactinics unit gives you the extra lamp so you have more options for getting just the look you want. Really a toss up.

AquaZ are OK. I've never used Coral Vue.

ah i'd be considering the 36" 6 bulb fixture =) so in your opinion grim. would it be worth the extra money? for that extra bulb given that the 4 (i'd be considering the 6)
bulbs puts out a lil more than the 5 bulb aquactinics?

I'd rather have the Aquactinics than a 6 lamp Tek. 6 lamp Powermodule will be way bright. You'd have to run a couple actinics and keep the light at least 6 inches above the tank to keep from melting softies with that.

does anyone have an upclose pic of an icecap slr reflector that comes with the 48" retro?? all I can find online are stock photos
Thanks~

I am stepping out but later today, will take pictures of the ones i just got drop shipped from icecap, as they don't look like any stock photo i have seen. The stock photo makes them look better build.

Also what is up with the metal lamp holder in the stock photo, are they required and who sells them. I searched Reefgeek, marinedepot , and aquariumspecialty with no luck.

3rd from the left is an Ice Cap

(from left Fauna Marin, Aquactinics, Ice Cap, Helios)

Since I've decided on T5 lights for my new 36g bowfront, can anyone recommend a brand they trust or have had success with?

If you are looking for a fixture, I recommend the Tek fixture. I have had it on my 72 bowfront for over a year, and I have had great success with this fixture. I imagine that there is one for your size tank.

Ok... here is a question. What two bulb combo would you guys recommend for a small 20L fish only/softy reef?

I want something to make fish/coral colors pop.

ATI Aquablue and UVL SA?
AB/B+? (worried about the actinic on this combo)
Other?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Gordon

Excellent, that's one of the brands I've been looking at closely. Thanks.

For just 2 lamps I would use a Aquablue and Super Actinic

Ok there are WAY to many pages to this thread to read them all, like 600 pages or so?!? =)

My tank is 150g 48(l)x24(w)x30(d)

I bought a Tek Light 8x 54w setup used. I think the relfector is shot or at least needs a solid cleaning and some prayers.

The bulbs are also shot and unmarked.

What would be my best bulb selection for this fixture, I would like to keep SPS and clams.

Thanks,
