ok my canopy is 26" wide with blocks on the inside and yes the lights are snug but man they work great. and at 860 watts pretty bright. some-thing else i am trying is i installed metal flashing in the canopy the reflect more light. what about the 75/25 at reef geek?

75/25 is a nice lamp. Adds a tich of red, lot of actinic and decent PAR. I think its a great accent lamp or good instead of an actinic on a SPS tank.

You even think about turning those 2 8's into 2 4's with reflectors?

You would probably put as much light in the tank.

Hello.

I have a standard 75 gallon (48"L x 18"W x 20"H). I was thinking of cutting off the top 8 inches to get a shallow prop tank with the dims 48"L x 18"W x 12"H. I might also just raise the eggcrate up and keep the extra water volume. Regardless, the coral will be close to the water surface.

I have a workhorse 7 ballast. 4 Icecap reflectors.

I want to know about bulbs. I like tanks that look bluer (but not full actinic), that make colours pop, but want a decent amount of growth. I have an astralux 70W 14K MH and I do not like the colour. It shifted too white.

So, if you could recommend 4 bulbs to give me excellent PAR (only 4 bulbs here) and the ability to grow SPS that aren't brown but rather nice, vibrant colours. I'm also propping zoas at the moment under my 70W MH and the colours are getting less vibrant everyday.

Thanks.

Anyone have thoughts on Moonlights that would mount easily on a 48" tx5? Not sure if I will keep my canopy at this point so it would be great to be able to mount on the fixture. Thanks!

Has anybody ever modded a TEK fixture for cooling? I was thinking about cutting a hole in the top of the fixture on each end and mounting 2 2" fans (one blowing in and one blowing out). My goal is to get a constant stream of air blowing across the bulbs.

Hi grim,

does lamp order really matter or is it just for looks? would a coral at the front of the tank get any of the light from the back bulbs? 6 bulbs 20inch wide. just wandering how far light reaches.

also do ati blue plus have much actinic in them or i really need a pure actinic to bring out fluresents?

thanks

Should be pretty Blue and have good PAR.

Whoops! I should have said, 6x48" bulb Overdriven Icecap Retro.
So still trying to acheive the same goal, what bulbs?

Grim,

You most likley have already answered this somewhere in the tread (sorry) but in my 90 gal. I want to keep mostly Zoa's, Favia's, Acan's, Mushrooms and some SPS (Monti's only mid to high high up) which system would you recommend?

- Tek 6x54w (with Fan's)
- Aquactinics TX5 5x54w
- ATI Powermodule 4x54w

Thanks,

Hey Grim. I have a 55 with a 6 bulb t5 fixture. It came with 3 daylight and 3 actinics. I want a little bit more of a bluer color but not much. Can you help?

Did anyone ever get a par reaading on the Aquactinics Solar Flare fixture?

I couldn't get a solid reading on my tank when we did it but it was well over 300 on a 22" tall tank. Just one Blue Plus and 1 Super Actinic did in the 160's

Thanks Grim so much for all your help. i got what you suggested and the colour/color (sorry austrlaian spelling) is perfect.

My freind wanted me to find out what you would suggest on her tank. she has a 48 x 20 x 20 also with a mixed reef but wants to keep a fair few SPS (up high i guess) and a clam on the sand.

our bulbs choice is more restricted here down under. we have all the aquaz, ati and KZ range. she has a 6 bulb ice cap retro with individual reflectors. she likes my Fiji purple so wants one of those in the mix. what 6 bulbs would you recommend for a nice blue look with enough par for the sps and clam

thanks heaps

I am trying to clean the water spots off of my Icecap T-5 Reflectors. What should I use? I have tried water, vinegar, and Windex. Any ideas?

Thanks
Brad
