Hi, one more question, and since this is a crowded thread, copying the basic information about the tank:

I'm planning my next tank and it will be some 200g (280g total) tank with, 64*32*26 dimensions. Water level will be some 24". Rock design will consist fiji plates. I will place the light and current loving species to upper levels; and others to sand level. This tank will contain sps, lps softies and some fish. I'm new in the hobby, so specialized tanks are a decade away from me. I want to taste everything in this tank

If I choose the 10*80W option do I need to overdrive them? Since silence of the tank is a must for me, I don't want to add the noise of the fans to equation. On the other hand, Icecap balasts seem to be superior to usual balasts.

My best,

Whether or not you overdrive you should use fans. If you don't overdrive you could use lower speed fans which wouldn't make any noise.

Hi, I was directed to this thread to get some suggestions about bulb combinations for my set up. I have a 6x2x2foot tank. I will be using the Aquatinics Constellation 14x39watts light fixture. What bulb combo do you recommend so that I can have SPS through out the tank and have clams on the sandbed? I would prefer the 14K-20K look but still want the PAR. Thanks

Too Blue:eek:

OK, Try putting the Aquablue in front and see what you think. If that doesn't work put the Blue Plus back in front and put a second GE Daylight in the rear

And you replied

I would at least give it a try. I wouldn't use any actinics in the mix of lamps, stick to the higher PAR lamps as much as possible.

based on this what bulbs would you recomend

Once again thanks in advance

Thanks again, I will try that. Maybe it is me since I just swapped MH to T5.

6500K for the GE and that is the actinic

One more question, I'm getting a 72" constellation for my 125gal. I'm planning on at least 75% SPS. What's the bulbs I want and the configuration?

Grim,

Thanks for the thoughts on the previous question. One more if you don't mind. Looking at nano's, and I came across these two from CAD

http://www.cadlights.com/product_inf...products_id=83

http://www.cadlights.com/product_inf...products_id=39

One has 4-14W T5's wile the other has 4-24W HOT5's. I assume the bulbs cost the same so would it be silly to not get the higher output ones? Again I have no feel for T5's and their efficiency, and I don't want to get nailed later for not having enough, but I also don't want to get too much. Tank will mostly be for Z&P's along with maybe a small anemone. Just so you don't have to look for take dims, they are 23 3/4"length x 14 1/4"width x 14 1/2" height.

Grim - Your thoughts on Giesemann vs ATI?

You had recommended to me this configuration:
ATI Blue Plus 1
GE 6500K 1
ATI Blue Plus 1
ATI Pro Color 1
ATI Blue Plus 1
ATI Aquablue 1

What if I used this instead?

Geisemann Actinic +
GE 6500K
Geisemann Actinic +
Geisemann Mid Day
Geisemann Actinic +
Geisemann Aqua Blue +

Geisemann is what is stocked locally; I'd prefer to buy the bulbs local so I can help reduce risk of breakage. Let me know if I crossed them right and would get the same par, look, and appearance.

The goal was sharp, precise 14k-20k look, SPS and softies throughout, and clams on floorbed.

THANKS!
