Sorry t5 bulbs

I've never heard of anyone seeing 10 or 20K lamps at home improvement places. Give them a shot and let us know.

Hey GrimReefer, thanks for answering my previous post. i have been reading other postings, and am kinda confused. some of your post replies say to put the 75/25 and blue plus as dusk / dawn. is this better?
thanks.

I like it but some people dont, makes for a blue/purple look. If someone has enough lamps to swap things around if they don't like it will throw it in there.

The Grim Reefer,

Sorry if this has been answered before I tried to look for a 8lamp config that is around a crisp white/blue look that is around 14/15k MH bulb like that of the phoenix. What lamps and placement should I use

Thanks

5 Blue Plus, 2 UVL Actinic White and a GE 6500K Daylight or Giesemann Midday

Grim,
Need your help. Tank setup 72x18x24 3in sand bed, 4x110 48in VHO lighting, mostly softies, polyps, zoo's, would like to move up to T5 lighting and start adding LPS, clams and few SPS. Looking at ATI 6x80 60in, 8x80 60in and constellation 72in. 8 bulbs may be to wide, the inside top of the tank is only 16.5 with the lip. Bulbs setup also is needed. thanks

Either will work

The 6x80 ATI Fixture would work good.

Id do 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 Fiji Purple and a GE 6500K Daylight for lamps. Grab a ATI Aquablue as a spare

i just ckd and even with all the lights on they still dont spin...is this normal or does it only spin when it reaches a certain temp?

You have a separate power cord fr the fans. If thats hooked up make sure it is set to 7.5 volts. It should run the fans when its plugged in.

I have a 8 bulb T5 fixture on a 110 gallon tank. I figured I had 4 watts per gallon. I am wondering if this is sufficient for a clam?

If it's a Tek, Aquactinics or ATI Fixture. The Novas are a little iffy for a clam much more than a foot or so below the surface. The Ebay crap wont cut it.

Hey grim, just wondering if you had heard anything about the new tek light coming out. Ive been putting off my light replacement for some time now and was thinking I would go with retro, but now am thinking I will want a fixture. I like the ATI pm and the constellation and am just wondering where this new tek will fit in b/c I hear it will be cheaper.

Dunno, they did a redesign of their redesign so hopefully it will be good.

have you tested the AquaScience bulbs recently, how do they compare to the ATI bulbs?
I did some searching and saw some older posts, 2006/7/8, but wonder if anything has changed since.

Havent heard of changes

Seemed like back then you were an AS fan, what happened that changed you toward ATI?

Must be a bad AC adapter as i dont see the light coming on on the adapter. Does a regular AC adapter from Radio Shack do the same thing?

Blue with a slight purple tint

Hmmm can you give me a recommendation on a better setup? I'm looking for a nice color, good growth with lots of "pop"

I would be very careful with that fixture over a 40 breeder. You will melt anything and even have a hard time keeping SPS happy. I was gonna go with an ATI Sunpower over my 40 but decided against it. WAY too much light on a 16" tall tank.

ATI has the highest PAR bulbs available.

Well then what do you saggest? Do you think i could bring it up a few inches off the surface of the water, i like the options of having 8 bulbs and if so how fare off the top. What do you say would be a good fixture then for the breader, i would like to stay in the t5 only fixture family.

Now that i think about it do you realy think 8 39w bulbs is to much? thats only 312 wats of power.

Hi,

I just bought a Sfiligoi Stealth 12x80watt and was wondering what would make a great bulb combo?

There is one plug for every 4 bulbs.

Thanks

I was never a fan seeing as how the lamps cost more and didn't have as much output as the ATI. Now that they are priced the same they aren't a bad option but other than the 15K special which is a more pure white than a Aquablue they are nothing special,

Yep, radio shake unit does the same thing. Make sure there isn't a switch to reverse the polarity on that adaptor. If its set to reverse polarity the fans wont work.
