You don't need 8 bulbs over that tank. 6 maximum. An Aquactinics TX5 might be worth looking into. I am gonna retro fit my T5's just because I worried about too much light.

The lower combo would look nice, kind blue side of a 14K. I'd be tempted to sneak in a Fiji Purple or UVL 75/25 where the two blue pluses are together in the center (just one of those lamps though) To help pop red and pink colors better.

thanks!! i think i will try a new combo based on what you said. pretty soon i will have every 39w bulb, lol. i was wondering about fixture height because in one reply that you made, you said to make sure the light is above 6" of water, but in my case you said dont go higher than 6". what are the actinic whites good for? also, whats the difference between ge 6500k and mid day bulbs?

Getting the 72" soon, with 12 bulbs, color set up recommended? I am either getting it from That Fish Place, or Pet Mountain, would they both have the bulbs you are talking about?
Suggestion on where to get them online, at a good price? When you tell me the recommended colors, please indicate, which if any are original bulbs that come with it.

I have a 75G with 4X54 T5s. Currently running the stock bulbs with softies and some lps, adding some SPS soon . Looking to change them out for some better color, pop and growth. I don't want alot of blue, but not alot of white either and right now its too white.
