Time to replace bulbs. If I want to replace my pro color with something what should it be? I've seen the fiji purple, 75/25, and actinic whites listed. I'm running a blue +, aquablue special and pro color as well as 1 VHO actinic. I don't really like so much of a blue look.

I would try the Actinic White.

I currently have the following setup in my 4 bulb Tek T-5 fixture over my 75 reef (not in this order):

Giesemann Powerchrome AquaBlue+
Giesemann Powerchrome AquaBlue+
UV lighting (URI) AQUASUN
UV lighting (URI) Super Actinic (actinic blue)

I was looking at replacing the bulbs and the Fiji Purple caught my attention. I know it's a fairly new bulb and I am limited on bulbs due to the 4 bulb limitation. Should I replace one in the above configuration with a Fiji Purple or stay with what I have?

At this point I would say you should add an Actinic Plus or ATI Blue Plus in place of a Aquablue and stay with the Aquasun for now.

Hi, maybe this has been asked before but I couldn't find it. I currently have a Current USA 72" Outer Orbit 3x250w 10K HQI-MH w/ 8x39W T5. What would you recommend? I would like to run my T5s more and my MH less.

I have a 6 bulbs fixture. I'd like to order 8 bulbs to play around with for 14-20k look. Whats your suggestion Grim? Thanks.

Should work fine. I would try a Fiji Purple in place of the front aquablue at some point too.

Run the Front row ATI Blue Plus, Second Row UVL Actinic White and the back 2 rows Blue Plus. Should look cool with or without halides running.

More than likely. If there were a lot of non fluorescing green critters in the tank I might add either an ATI Aquablue or a GE 6500K Daylight in place of a Blue Plus. The Blue Plus will make a green fluorescing coral look cool but non fluorescing corals like the skirts on some Zoas really pop with the GE running and the Aquablue will even help bring out the green a little better. Trouble is with the GE and Actinic White running with 2 blue plus it's a little more of a 10 with actinic look so going with the GE lamp I would probably switch to a UVL 75/25 which is a little more subtle as far as red output goes. .

Thanks. I ordered the bulbs per your original combination. I appreciate your help.

Hey Grim,

Quick question for you. I'm going to be setting up a 75 gallon tank that is going to be mostly sps and I'm trying to decide on lighting. Its down to the 7 bulb aquactinics constellation, 6 bulb ati powermodule, or a 6 bulb ati sunpower. Thanks and I appreciate your help.

Pull the GE for a Aquablue.

Flip a coin. I think the Aquactinics looks the best IMO but the fans are a little louder than the ATI so if you are sensitive to the noise go ATI.

So basically, all 3 will be more than enough for a 75 that's mostly sps. Would the aquactinics be overkill on a 75? Would I be able to keep sps on the sand bed with these fixtures?

If you want absolutely unlimited placement for SPS go with the Powermodule. The other two will be fine for mixed reef with SPS in most of the tank but higher light type stuff might not do well at the bottom.

Hey grim,

I'm setting up a new SPS tank and looking at either ATI's sunpower or PM. Is the PM really worth the extra money? Does it put out much more PAR?

thanks

I am told about 10% better output but have never done a head to head to confirm that.
