Grim Reefer:
Try eliminating the 2 actinics for a while and up your blue plus cycle to 10 hours. Leave the daylights at 4 hours. I am thinking perhaps you are getting too much UV light. Try that for a few weeks and let us know what happens. That won't drop your PAR a huge amount so if I am right you should see a color change pretty quick.

Do I need to cool both ends? I see the bulbs have writing on only one end. If so I will need 3 fans, one on each end, & 1 i the middle.
Thanks alot

Grim, I tried this over the last two and a half weeks and I have seen no change in coral coloration. Got any more ideas? Or do you think I should try an old 175w MH set-up for comparison?
Give it a couple more weeks just to make sure then the Halide test would be a good way to go. Nothing else I can think of

Hi Grim, I currently have a tank that is 39inch long 21inch depth and 23 inch from the sand to the top of the tank. My lighting is 2x250w halides and i was wondering if i could get the same amount of par with t5's. I was looking at the ati sun and power models but the downside of the sun is it only has 6 tubes. Do you think i would be better saving for power module with 8x39w and what lamps do you recommend for it or will the cheaper sun model with the 6 tubes be ok. I only want to keep sps and my rose anemone.
Thanks for the help as im loosing sleep thinking about it, Dave

So this "pale color" problem seems to be uncommon but most frequent with T5's. I have been searching high and low and can't seem to find any ideas as to why. Have you ever experienced the problem yourself?

4 ATI Blue plus
1 ATI Aqua Blue Speacil
1 UVL 75/25 Aquablue
Can you give me an idea at what this is going to look like.....I can order more bulbs if needed, and would rather have them all by this weekend!!!

Grimm
I currently am running a 12x 39watt Nova Ext pro on my 220 and have this bulb combo
blue+
aquablue
blue+
aquasun
aquablue
blue+
on both sides
I like the color i get ( crisp blue) but would like to see my reds pop in my acans.
Sandbed is 26" from the top
I don't want to lose any par or the blueish color
What would you suggest?
It's been 10 months and I am ready for a change.

I'm sure this question has been asked, but what about a suggestion for a nice T-5 setup for a 40 breeder. It will be mixed reef with mostly zoanthids and LPS.
Would like to use a 4 bulb setup if at all possible.
Thanks!![]()

Its over $425 (with legs and shield) and I'd still need to get moonlights and a fan setup, so easily $450-500ish.
I thought my best bang-for-buck would be the extreme pros since it would throw out 8x39w lighting, have individual reflects, moonlights, and internal fans. Is there something I should know before purchasing?
