I found this article in the 2007 Annual Marine Fish and Reef USA magazine. This just the list from the article and if you're interested in the whole thing let me know and I'll scan it into a PDF for you.

Here it is in typical David Letterman style.

10. Childlike Curiosity
9. Learning from Mistakes
8. Willingness to change
7. Being Content
6. Appreciating Simplicity
5. A Sense of Wonder
4. A Sense of Humor
3. Willingness to Research
2. A Strong Work Ethic
1. Patience

Here is my own list of characteristics as per my own clinical observations:

10. Childish fascination with small colorful objects
9. A megalomaniacal fantasy of being a lord of our own reef
8. An inability to control spending impulses
7. A psychotic need to spend countless hours doing nothing that matters
6. An unrelenting need to feel superior to creatures that don't have spinal cords
5. An obsessional preoccupation with carrying water
4. A morbid fascination with asexual reproduction
3. A regressive contentment with staring into water filled boxes
2. Profound grief when calculating money spent on household bills in terms of potential frags
1. A deep and unrelenting enmeshment with those that share the same dysfunctional symptoms
